Re: booting Windows 95 - Really :)

Mabye DOSBox could evolve into Win9xBox, so that we don't have to mess with Windows XP/Vista for those old games. What do you think? I think our best hope at the moment is Microsoft deciding to add 3D support for their Virtual PC. VMWare Fusion has shown it can be done. I totally agree with your …

Re: Dosbox 0.70 is out!

😀 I can't believe the speed boost. Duke Nukem 3D in 800x600->Works great. Strike Commander used to be too slow and the MT-32 music slowed down a lot. Both of these problems are gone. You should have called it Dosbox 1.00 😀

Re: MT-32 vs Adlib/Soundblaster

From 1993 onwards (and the popularization of GM-capable devices), the roles were inverted. Composers started to write exclusively with GM in mind, and rarely bothered doing specific transcriptions for MT-32 -- they just relied on the generic Miles audio system to take care of GM playback on the …

Re: Why are we so unpopular?

in Milliways
Because: -site is one of the ugliest I have seen -sometimes snappy developers:"Get new computer." "Get new joystick." "Program a fix yourself". -too much programming BS. You better know how to compile a program if you want some unsual patches

Re: MUNT out of tune?

It's been out of tune since day one. Personally I got tired to the slow progress of the project and now I have real MT-32 coming in the mail. Even though Munt could reach 100% emulation someday, it never can emulate MT-32 sitting on my table 😀

Re: Win9x + VDMSound **ALPHA**

It works! I've been using SB Live before and it has pretty bad 8Mb E-MU Wavesynth. Now I loaded a 32Mb soundfont and fired up System Shock and I'm getting better music than ever. Vlad and Chris are my heroes :) But it's Alpha allright, it has crashed my machine(total freeze) four times, never while …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

Next year we will see Win98/ME support gone. New hardware still supports it and I can dual-boot and keep the 98 SE but during next year it will become slowly impossible if there aren't going to be drivers for them. Hopefully by that point dosbox has developed to a point where 98SE is no longer …

Re: Win98? PLEASE?????!

I asked and got a reply from Creative, there is absolutely no dos support in their new Audigy 2 soundcard. Even the SB16 emulation under Win98 is gone. So the Win98 version from VDMSound would be crucial because some games just refuse to work in XP/2000.

Re: Help with vesa

Now, to add to this problem it seems that NVIDIA card's have more trouble accessing VESA modes that ATI Card's. (ATI card's seem more compatible with VESA under NT). Funny you say that. According to many people, drivers released for Ati Radeon cards since April disable Vesa support. My friend was …
