Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

Does this device support multisync EGA modes like 640x480 and 800x600 etc? I can't get mine to work with anything above 640x350 using my ATI EGA wonder. I've been meaning to ask retrocanada76, the designer of this device, if the firmware could be modified to support those higher resolutions. …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

I pushed a new FW: right now CGA is always active, so even if you set the unit to MDA, when you connect to a CGA output it will switch to CGA. This is useful for people who use MDA and CGA, no need to configure the unit just plug into the video card. But for EGA you still need to switch to CGA/EGA …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

Tronix what happens is that the Poisk pixel clock is slightly different than the CGA. Even if you could manage to change the FGPA code to match this pixel clock, then the fpga board would have same jitter for regular CGA cards. The CGA pixel clock is 14.3181Mhz and it comes from the motherboard. Try …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

Allright I made the video. First I centered the screen, ensured I get correct colors with KQ1 and recorded MM1988 in composite mode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8XSFA9Yduo I hope the video is good - anything else just ask retrocanada76 :) It still makes no sense to me that the black pattern is …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

keropi, can you make a video ? start Maniac 1988 in composite mode. Press the composite button on FPGA and then press left/right on the FPGA toa adjust the screen . I want to see the patterns how they behave when you move the image left/right. I still can't figure out what is the problem with your …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

*I just have to hit auto-adjust on my LCD for every mode change, but I can live with that. For CGA: Adjust your monitor clock to fit extra 8 pixels. Then using MODE CO80 find the leftmost position. Adjust the MONITOR Hor. Position and set the screen to the left, allowing extra 8 pixels to the right …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

Ok try now the latest FW. Oddly enough the Tandy 1000 suffers from the same ill but the MM1988 runs in native tandy mode this is why I didn't notice it before. Well Old CGA and Tandy 1000 generates the CYAN/MAGENTA in low intensity for both palletes: low and high. You don't get light cyan/ light …

Re: MDA/CGA/EGA to VGA Converter Released!

well I cannot explain. Except that the pixel columns some look ticker than others. The composite is based on 4 pixels patterns like cyan-cyan-black-black (as seems if it was 640x200) but if you card generated them as cyan-cyan-cyan-black than it would fail. You need to take a picture of the maniac …
