1A is about max for a pin in the connector, and seems cable itself is less capable. There will be some level of heating, depending on (contact) resistance but in general it isn't gonna be a problem unless you try to do something overkill 🤣.

In theory they are generic 8041/8042 type MCUs with mask ROM and any programmable variation should be workable.

Dust gets under the lens and on the mirrors in the laser assembly. Some air compressor method is probably necessary to get the dust out from inside the assembly or at least get disturbed enough that readback becomes possible. Sometimes the lasers have simply burned out...

The Creative card shouldn't have a problem with TRS connector being inserted into its output connector(s). In worst case you can use a low value resistor (say 10 ohms) between the ring and sleeve if things end up not working on the Creative card.

it is a 180µF 16V part, the value is not critical in this sort of application. You can use 100µF or 220µF and it'll still work.

It means how long can a PCI device hog the bus before another thing gets its turn. If some other device begins to suffer (such as getting stuttering in sound) you want to reduce the value. Otherwise keep it high as it allows more data to be passed in single bus transaction.

You can divide down master clock of the chip to be the system clock for any modern DAC supporting the 16bit right justified format (most do). Some DACs can work with 33MHz rather than 16MHz (or lower) clock, such as PCM1781.
