Re: Roland SC-88 no audio output?

I've mentioned this in other places here, but even my 2003 Edirol SD-20 had evidence of SMD cap leakage. I only found this when trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any audio from the analog outputs off the module. When I saw the dull grey and crumbly look of the solder at the base of the caps, …

Re: Synthesizers that came with video game music

I suspect the video that was posted with the SD-20 for Duke3D didn't have the SD-20 set to GS mode. I noticed that the test music option in the setup, but seem to generate a GS reset because the SD-20 will show what mode it is using on the front of it. When it gets the correct reset message, it will …

Re: MOD Players working on a 286 ?

One of the first MOD players I know I used on my 286-16 was the WOW player as it supported my SB Pro back in the day that I had? I'm sure there were a few others I messed with but I do remember using that one quite a bit although I recall it wasn't a very accurate player.

Re: Frys electronics is Closing.

I really like Frys! The problem is that there weren't any near me physically. But anytime I visited relatives where they had one nearby they would go out of their way to take me there so I could look at stuff and maybe even stock up. Quite a bit of my electornics gadgets I have on my bench came from …

Re: MT32-PI and Roland UM-ONE

Yes I did notice it was 100 on start up but most games will lower it themselves. A manual rotary knob would be a great addition! Most Sierra games do this. In the game itself you have a volume adjustment and changing that should also show on the display for the MT-32 side of things. That is how it …

Re: Edirol SD-20 - Not working or just quirks?

I will see about taking it out of the loop and getting pics. There weren't a ton of caps as I recall but quite a few. I know that was a shotgun approach to things but as it wasn't working 100% anyway and I could see evidence of leakage on the board from some of them, I figured it couldn't hurt. …

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

That's a PCMCIA card, right? Incidentally, does anyone know anything about the PMA-5? It appears to use the headphone jack as a combi jack for headphones/line out. Kinda of a cool gadget, but if the sound is worse than the other SC-55's, I don't need to be a completist. :) I've played around with a …

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

Pretty sure that the MT-120, MT-200 and likely the MT-300 etc. are based on the original SC-55 sounds as well? I know that my MT-200 sounds the same as my SCB-55 I have? *There is one difference at least with my MT-200 compared to an SC-55. The MT-200 has a maximum tempo of 250bpm whereas I assume …
