I'd add PGForever, a fan remake of Panzer General 1 for modern operating systems. I remember that one. Didn't the author go on to create an inspired modern game called Panzer Corps ? But I don't remember PGForever being officially sanctioned by SSI (or whoever owns the 5-Star General franchise now) …

I once had this start happening seemingly inexplicably and it was driving me mad. Then I realized my AWE64 gold was loading a 28MB sound font every boot and it took ages! Removing the sound font each time before I shutdown the computer eliminated the problem.

The UM-ONE’s USB does not work in DOS. The closest you could do with that cable on a retro machine with real Roland hardware is to run it on Windows XP. I use mine on Windows 10, myself; it allows me to use MUNT to emulate Roland hardware for retro machines if I prefer not to plug in a sound module. …
