I'm assuming that it's referring to the 486 DX and SX. The 486 SX lacks a math coprocessor (or has it disabled), while the DX has a math coprocessor.

it appears in your picture that the two leftmost pins are Positive (+) and the two rightmost pins are Negative (-).

I don't even know if this is possible. I'd honestly go for BIOS revision F7, and see if there's a "Fast boot" option. I know on Award BIOSes, Fast Boot (or Quick boot, or whatever it's called) only runs through the memory check once.

I used to work on these in high school. The art classes used them. They were reliability disasters. Most died of heat issues.

Was it bought off eBay? Does it get any sign of power whatsoever? It might be some super basic problem, like a bad solder joint

It means that the CRT is getting high voltage, and that it's not completely dead. If you gently hit the side of the computer (NOT THE TUBE) do you get a picture? If so, it's probably a bad solder joint.

Depends on how much, and the condition of it. Is there any burn-in, or image issues such as with image geometry or the colors? Is it lacking contrast? If so, the tube's probably worn out or the contrast is set low. I'd personally go for it, but in the end it's your decision
