Well I solved it by swapping the order of the vga and soundcard. So i guess it was indeed an irq problem.

I found the problem. I disabled the onboard floppy port in favor of a port on my ISA i/o controller and this somehow had this a "special effect" . I reverted back to the onboard floppy port and it's ok again. Still bizar this doesn't happen with ALL my installs.

Well I don't believe in this either because it does work with other CF cards and a real hd connected. The only thing that is changed so far is actually the 4gb CF. I only use the 486 for some dos gaming and not for windows. Although I can install win3.1 and check things out, I suspect the results of a 1994 card to be not that bad either in Windows ? So gaming wise I would say the Trident is the better option here ? I am quite new to dosgaming, so total noob …
