Thanks for your reply! That's my problem.. I don't know enough about that to rule out that problem. Are spare parts for such a thing still to be found (Ebay or so)?

I have an old (working) Compaq Contura. The screen is barely readable. The brightness and contrast cannot be adjusted with the Fn combination. Is the problem with the inverter? And if so, can that only be solved by looking for another inverter? Thanks!

It looks like a capacitor on the LCD unit has exploded. That is a pity, because those screens are very expensive on Ebay..

Thanks for your reaction! I just tried it with contact cleaning spray, but the problem remains. The backlight works perfectly (which I can see when switching to the external screen). So I'm afraid it's the inverter? Unless someone can help me further...

First this: you were absolutely right. The shift key made the pointer take a smaller step 1 or 2 times. But I was also misled by the keyboard. There is a small key with the word 'enter' on it (at the numeric keys) , and a large key with the symbol <--. To format a floppy disk, the large arrow key …

Thanks for the reference; is something new for me! So I will probably look for an Apricot mouse. But if I can still find it somewhere?!... I can control the arrow (mouse pointer) with the numeric keys, but then the arrow 'jumps' so far that I can't get it on the 'disc' symbol... Frustrating...

Thanks for the info! I just got my hands on an LTE 5250. It boots up, but the HDD (definitely) and the FDD (probably) are broken. The floppy drive (Mitsubishi) is hard (affordable) to find, but now I know that there are other possibilities. I'm away for a while, but I'll keep you posted! Thanks!

Hello, I found this HDD in an old portable (BMx 2100). The connection is a 44 pin IDE. The power is apparently integrated in the flatcable. I can't find anything about this HDD. Does anyone has an idea? Thanks!

Just tried "UK keyboard" (MS-DOS ver 6.22). When tapping it I get the message "specified code table not defined". So I have MS-DOS completely reinstalled with "country: UK" and "keyboard UK" ... Same result: the key right to the spacebar gives a "|" and "/". Later on I 'll try with a TOSHIBA-DOS ...

Hello, I have had a Toshiba T5100 for several years now. However, I cannot find the correct country code with this layout. (At codepage 850, I have tried almost all countries...) Pay particular attention to the ~ and # keys next to the space bar. Does anyone have an idea?.... Thanks!
