Didn't the SB16 Vibras and some other models use 2x 8-Bit DMA instead of a 16-Bit DMA? Only the ones that uses the Vibra16XV chip are incapable of using a 16-bit DMA channel, the rest has proper HDMA support. Personally, I don't bother with USB on these older platforms due to lack of standardization for the brackets, very slow transfer speeds (I use a NIC instead for this kind of stuff) and as Warlord stated, the lack of keyboard and mouse emulation thru BIOS.

This thread reminds me of a SB Vibra 16 sound card that has an ICS Wavetable synth from Mediaforte. That Vibra 16 chip isn't PnP (has jumpers for setting all the resources) and all of the variants using it contains a real YMF-262 OPL3 chip.

IRQ, DMA and HDMA are software configurable, I suggest leaving them to the default values for now which are 5, 1 and 5 respectively. In DOS it must be initialized with DIAGNOSE /S after the BLASTER environment variable is set.

It is a problem with some DOS software like the others said, not a Windows glitch. Removing the H and P values from the BLASTER environment variable should fix it. For Hocus Pocus, I only had to remove the P value for the game to work with a SB16 sound card.
