Not really retro. Yet. Installing Vista on a Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus / QX6850 / Radeon HD 2900XT. It draws a staggering 200 Watts from the socket when idling. Good thing to see lower readings with contemporary hardware.

Nice stuff Aublak, See if you can get some L2 cache chips in the future. Depending on the software you're running, improvement may vary a lot. From a few percent to 50.

First owner 7IXE reporting. I always had a fight with the AMD driver pack and ended up with a non-functional Windows 98SE installation. I believe it was the GART or IDE driver... not sure anymore.

Very subjective of course, but I would go for a Pentium 200 with MMX just to play Pod. 😉 Don't forget the Quantum Bigfoot and a Zip drive.

What a find! I see one cache on a stick slot. Will that be 'cut' in half for the CPU's? *PD2JK mumbles; Never understood those soldered-on Dallas clocks. At least put those in a DIP socket as well! What were they thinking. That's one piece of planned obsolescence right there...

Not sure, but the 3.3V from an ATX PSU is unused, when connecting a simple ATX-AT converter cable. Question is how the PSU reacts on this in the long run... But you can use a power resistor on the 3.3v line to create some load.
