Re: AWE64 with External MIDI

I'll add another thing that might be helpful and makes me think it's not just a matter of the MIDI output being silenced; I'm using MDF to change presets in Midi Player 5 and according to the computer with the AWE64 in it, the 5 bytes are being sent. However, the computer where I have Midi Player 5 …

AWE64 with External MIDI

I've been trying to get external MIDI to work with an AWE64 value (CT4520) for hours. I had a non-PNP SB16 card in this system with an ESS AudioDrive that I was using as a MIDI port, but this configuration gave me some problems in W95, so I moved to a single AWE64 Value. I don't care too much about …

Screen calibration under DOS

I used to have a program that had several test patterns in a few VGA modes including text mode that was very helpful for calibrating the OSSC I'm using to digitize the VGA output of my retro computers. I can't seem to find it anymore; I was pretty sure I got it from Vogons, but searching yields …

Re: AGP vs PCIe

So PCIe and AGP are only a matter of performance? I'm not trying to run Windows 9x anymore in this machine, I just don't want to find out that some game used some AGP specific thing that will make it not display correctly with a PCIe card. I don't recall this ever happening to me back in the day, …

AGP vs PCIe

So, I've recently built an early Windows XP machine that originally I was going to have dual booting with Windows Me. This last part didn't work out, but since I have already a few other machines running Windows 95 and Windows 98 it doesn't matter too much. Anyway, the motherboard I'm using has both …
