Re: List of Currently Free Games

Here's a fun one. Iji http://www.remar.se/daniel/iji.php A 2D platformer with RPG elements, including weapon/ability upgrades. Even has a semi-secret ending depending on how you play. Looks like it was updated somewhat recently (July 2021) I had originally completed a play through of the 1.6 version …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Also, just to be completely clear about it, even if everything works okay with the Nvidia card, the requirements for getting it to work are quite hefty. You have to have a 2000 series card with RTX or newer, it doesn't work on laptops unless there is no intel iGPU and you have to turn off a bunch …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

I'm not aware that video cards support arbitrary scaling. AFAIK, doing that would result in a 1600x1000 squished image (320x5, 2000x5). Which brand card do use? It's an Nvidia card. Here's the option in the control panel. Without actually measuring, it looks correct to my eyes when running Lemmings …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

No, the developer of the patch stopped with development. The latest version is not compatible with the machine=vgaonly setting, unfortunately... I guess a shader (these seem all to be compatible with vgaonly) that does the exact same thing would be my best option... I would normally recommend the …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Hello, I am having a bit of trouble making SCVA work with DOSBox ECE. I got the latest version of Sound Canvas VA running with Midi Player 5.7, both x64, but DOSBox refuses to use it. .... Well I use Sound Canvas VA with DOSBox ECE with no issues in Windows 10 64 bit. I prefer the older and likely …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Thank you for looking into this. No game in particular. It's just a case where aspect correction is messed up. Maybe Darkseed uses 640x350. Aspect=true messes with aspect ratio also. I gave up on integer scaling on DOSBox. I'm waiting for DOSBox staging to include Fluidsynth and MUNT, and I'll …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

FYI, screen captures in DOSBox are not aspect corrected. It appears you are using 640x350 resolution for DP -- that is not a square pixel mode, so aspect correction makes the circle an ellipse. I guess using a square pixel resolution like 640x480 will give you the results you are looking for, i.e. …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Quick question, I was referred here from my post in https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=75518 I'd like to understand why the latest ECE build gives directions for using "output=surfacepp" or "output=openglpp", but I'm getting errors when doing so. It appears things have changed and yet …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Thanks @Crimson_Zero - my main gripe for now that i can't use "glshaders" subdirectory to store all my shaders, they only can be used from dosbox directory despite what config file says.. Your welcome! That little directory issue got me too initially before I noticed that the DOSBox console …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Is there a way to force integer-scaling? Try this. Go to the GitHub Repository for the DOSBox Shaders that was posted earlier in this thread. https://github.com/tyrells/dosbox-svn-shaders and download a copy of the code in zip format. According to the readme, "pixel_perfect.glsl" provides an …

Re: Glide bug in Lands of Lore 2

Thanks for the report! Unfortunately I cannot make this game work through DosBox for some reason. I get an error message from the Glide patch about invalid LFB addresses. Thank you for looking into it! I remember seeing an error with LFB addresses when I was playing around with different DOXbox …

Glide bug in Lands of Lore 2

So I have a bit of a mystery on my hands which will hopefully interest you! I've played around with Lands of Lore 2 (GOG) a fair bit with different configurations: Default non-accelerated DOS LOL2 works with few bugs that can for the most part be worked around but has the worst graphics. Windows …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows)

I'd like to thank you for compiling DOSBox ECE. Your build actually allows Lands of Lore 2 to be playable in glide mode when using the teleporters. With other builds, I've had to switch out of Hardware acceleration mode to use them and then switch back again. It's fantastic to have a build available …
