Re: Glide in Windows 98 [solved]

Thanks for the advice. I spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting and I believe that it came down to my WDM audio drivers. I had to reinstall Windows in order to switch back to VXD. I have not reinstalled GL Quake, but FreeSpace 2 and Diablo 2 are running fine. I had intended to run DirectX 7, but …

Re: Glide in Windows 98

Okay. I switched to DirectX 7.0a. I think I may have another issue. I recently changed my audio drivers from VXD to WDM. I've heard that WDM on Windows 98 can provide a degraded performance. But, I'm unable to remove them. All attempts result in either (1) my system hard locking or (2) it rebooting …

Re: MIDI Sound in DOS Games

The short answer is that's it's working. The long answer is -- other than a few DMA/IRQ/ETC settings -- I'm not sure exactly what I did. I installed The Ultimate Doom and I have all of the wonderful sounds working. It looks like I just need to sort out some of the game-specific sound settings.

Re: Yamaha YMF719-S Questions

Is there any way to have both the ac97 line and ac97 cd on? I'd really like to have two analog inputs. As far as I can tell, I can turn on line: ek1m -as line or turn on cd: ek1m -as cd But not both. Thanks

Re: Yamaha YMF719-S Questions

So, I'm able to to verify that the sound is being processed by the Yamaha in both DOS and Windows 98, I don't know what kind of magic that took place, but I do get sound out of the 3.5mm jack. I am also able to connect the CD Audio out of the DVD ROM into the 4-pin LGGR connector. And, yes, it looks …

Re: Yamaha YMF719-S Questions

For those who are interested, I was able to figure out what the two 4-pin connectors at the top of the card are (LGRG and LGGR). These are the CD audio in. It looks there were two standards . L = Left G = Ground R = Right The 4-pin CD audio cable (MPC2 -- Multimedia Personal Computer 2) that is …
