Wouldn't option B cause the CPU to still draw electric power ? Asking because recently was affected by less than ideal 5V rail issues. Do you know ?

Synthetic tests are mostly meaningless, but if 3DMark is inline with the expectations, then it can be a Q3 specific issue of some sort. These numbers are unusually low. Something is not right. With Q2Pro + Vanilla Q3A SMP you should be around 200 fps in Quake 3 (1024x768, highest settings). Or can be the motherboard (BIOS microcodes, etc) that is not ideal ? SuperMicro server boards are not very fast in general, focus is on …

Updated my post with the ISA bus frequencies. I use 50ns rated RAM chips (4x4Mb modules) that work well under much more extreme conditions. The problem is not the memory itself, but the motherboard. Simple DOS tests/apps/games work fine at 2 wait states, but the system is not fully stable and the …

Voodoo graphics cards are mostly outside my areas of interest, so never tried actually. The “coolest” Voodoo card i have is V3 3000 PCI, can give it a try if you want, but you should ask in the video forum or point some of the Voodoo fans to this thread - good chance they will be able to clarify.

No idea about the V cards. Just wanted to comment that the built-in multi-cpu support always worked for me. But i stay on NT4. Story can be different in XP.

I had a typo in my last message. Apparently i fixed it a moment before you posted because in your quote it is still WB instead of WT. So yes, i meant if L1 in WT all is good. Will check some other sound cards soon. They work just fine in other rigs with l1wb. So most likely we have a awe64g problem. …

Thanks for the link. 3x66 results in no lights here with the PVI board. Most likely related to the fact that the motherboard has options for 3.45V and 3.6V only, which is insufficient for Am5x86 to work at 200MHz. At least i don't have a CPU that can do it at below 4 volts.
