If memtest generates an error, you have a problem, even if you don't notice it in other use cases. It doesn't ever produce spurious errors as far as I know

Also interesting that disks formatted on your drive could be read by it, even if the speed wasn't constant. Further testing proved this to not be the case, I got errors with disks formatted on the drive. I mentioned this in an earlier post. I got the drive running tip top by lubricating the hub …

Well I'm happy to report my problem wasn't alignment related. In fact it was just the stupid belt. The belt was marginal enough that it was occasionally slipping and the spindle wasn't maintaining constant speed.

Mapping pages to and from conventional memory can be done while still only having a 64kB page frame in the UMA. I have no interest in discussing the semantics of what "large page frame mode" means

Many LIM 4.0 EMS cards are capable of having a page frame larger than 64kB, and will often automatically fill up any space available in the UMA to them (in 16kB page increments). There is generally little to no benefit to using a page frame above 64kB and you can probably control this with switches …
