If you are using external midi you dont need to worry about emulating midi, just ensure passthrough is enabled. And yes you always need aweutil for it to work at all. No you do not. You must initialize the hardware on the card with AWEUTIL /S but that does *not* load AWEUTIL as a TSR like it does …

I've got a switch box setup with 6ft jumpers going to each PC connected to another switch box to select the gameport device via a second 6' jumper so 12' of extension plus two switches, makes no difference

I think you'd have to alter the holes on the PCB for it to work with a cable end. I could be wrong, but going off my pictorial memory, I think the width of those two cable pinchers/clamps are too wide. there would also be nothing physically holding it together - the IDC contacts will pull right out …

They cannot do blind vias, but they do *tented* vias - that is vias with soldermask on top. This may be relevant instead of trying to cover them with silkscreen like yall were trying to do with the other thing Most people, myself included, seem to still be using kicad 4. New thing bad 😁
