Re: Install DOS in DOSBox

in DOSBox Guides
Ok, I was wrong. I was able to create the hdd image with dosbox-x's imgmake command and mount it. IMGMAKE hdd.img -t hd -size 20 -nofs IMGMOUNT 2 hdd.img -t hdd -size 512,32,2,640 -fs none You will notice the "2" instead of "c", this is necessary to mount it on the second device (hda), specifying …

Re: Install DOS in DOSBox

in DOSBox Guides
@Bass I don't know what the problem is, but as a test I tried booting a disk image of PC-DOS 3.2 in vanilla DOSBox 0.74-3 and it worked fine as you mentioned. Screenshot from 2020-03-10 13-34-42.png Perhaps you should provide some more details as to what is going wrong. Also any debug messages. I …

Re: DOSBox Game Launcher (DOSBox Frontend)

in DOSBox General
Another problem that I have run into. DBGL sometimes gets confused with symbolic links on Linux. Basically if the directory directly underneath dosroot is a symlink, it handles it fine, but not when the symlink is further down. In this example I will use QFG1VGA, where "QFG1VGA" is a symlink to a …

Re: Windows 95/98 emulation/VM options?

in PC Emulation
I'm using DOSBox-X for running Windows 95/98. It works quite well these days and includes support for Glide. It works better then VM's as there are no Win9x accelerated drivers for those. But there are still some issues to be "fixed", such as dynamically mounting Floppy or CD images when you want …

dosbox.com compatibility and wiki read-only

in DOSBox General
Hi, Sometime earlier this year the dosbox compatibility has gone read-only. Clicking on login just says "Temporary disabled due to database changes", and the wiki login has not been available either. Any insight as to what is going on, or when this will change?

Re: DOSBox Game Launcher (DOSBox Frontend)

Thanks for the heads up _Rob, the "Start manually with"-issue will be fixed soon, silly bug. I'm having trouble reproducing the problem about the corrupt MobyGames images though, can you give me one example game which suffers from this issue? Thanks rcblanke. As to the corrupted images, it happens …

Re: DOSBox Game Launcher (DOSBox Frontend)

in DOSBox General
Hi, In addition to the corrupted screenshot problem I mentioned above, I have one other strange issue. When I right click on an entry and select "Start manually with" the behaviour is different for the DOSBox instance that is set for your global default or the game default and other DOSBox versions. …

Re: Wing Commander 1 & 2 CM32L problem

in MT-32 General
@DOSUserDude I just tried it again just now on my Linux machine, as that is what I have access to right now, and was not able to reproduce the problem. So I'm not sure what the problem was. Just as a test, I set mididevice to fluidsynth and timidity and the sounds were wrong again, which does seem …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Thanks for the suggestions and answers. I tried to run the Linux version with the terminal command you suggested and it complained about missing libsdl1.2, so I installed it, but it still didn't seem to work. I'll have to continue checking this out. Nicely said from Rob too that I should run Linux …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

You really should be running the Linux version of dosbox on Linux and not the Windows version through wine. As to running the Linux version, keep in mind that on Linux, unlike on windows, your current directory is NOT in your path. So if you see an executable called dosbox in your current directory, …

Hi, running DBGL v0.91 on Fedora 31. When downloading cover art from mobygames, a lot, but not all, of the images are corrupted. I have not used the cover art downloader in months, so I don't know what broke it. But the cover art that I downloaded in the past is fine. I tried it with 2 different …

Wing Commander 1 & 2 CM32L problem

in MT-32 General
I did not find this issue easily online, so thought to post it here. WC1 and WC2 from Origin Systems give incorrect sound effects when you use a CM32L or LAPC1. This is for instance noticeable during the WC1 intro where instead of laser sounds you get a bell sound instead. Solution for MUNT is to …

Re: Dosbox Scaling/SDL help

in DOSBox General
PC monitors will normally not go that low. My monitor for instance will not go lower then 800x600. So either some kind of scaling needs to take place somewhere, or you get a postage stamp sized window. Some TVs however will support lower resolutions, mainly to support old game consoles, but …

Re: Dosbox Scaling/SDL help

in DOSBox General
You may be running Wayland and not the old Xorg. If this is the case, then a legacy X11 application, such as dosbox, cannot use xrandr to set the resolution, and this may be an issue here. Work is on-going for a solution to this issue. https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=GNOME-Mutter …

Re: DOSBox-X branch

in DOSBox Patches
You're mounting the image as if it has a FAT filesystem, but it has none, which is why it is rejected by the added sanity checks. If you specify drive 2 instead of C and add the "-fs none" switch then mounting should work fine for your purpose. Not the first time someone has gotten hung up by this, …
