Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

I am using dosbox ece to run grand prix 2. I have a steering wheel and pedals for this game, and for a few years now I have been using it with the "timed = false" option because with cycles "auto" it makes the game play at the correct speed but the steering wheel drifts and acts up. If I reduce the …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

One thing I notice (on windows with ECE) it almost seems like the volume in the game changes a little from time to time, without me adjusting it. I don't see a setting enabled (by default) that would do this. Has anyone else noticed this? By the way this volume issue was not a dosbox issue, it was …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Still need to figure out how to SSTTREEETTCCH the screen wider so it takes up the full width though. Just set the fullscreen resolution to your desktop resolution and turn aspect correction off by setting fullresolution = desktop aspect = false https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf#aspect_.3D_ …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

I will try the screen-stretch trick tonight. One thing I notice (on windows with ECE) it almost seems like the volume in the game changes a little from time to time, without me adjusting it. I don't see a setting enabled (by default) that would do this. Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

It isn't that difficult to compile a 32bit ver of DOSBox on a 64bit distro. ...... with Ubuntu 18.03 and Ubuntu 18.04 ....... Will this be different in Debian 8? I know Ubuntu was born from Debian so I figure they should be very similar...? edit: I figured out why my brake/gas pedals were only …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Yep, although I tend to compile dosbox 32 bit in a 32 bit schroot and use the resulting package/binary in my multi-arch debian installation. I forgot why I did do it like that though.. I just got off of the phone with my friend who helped me compile the 64 bit one. I mentioned the idea of schroot …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

the 64 bit version will be slower, but is it such a heavy game you are trying then ? Even my laptop in 64 bit mode on linux gives around Pentium 100 performance. (at least according to one speedtest, others might be different) Thanks guys- I just checked with the "file" command in the terminal The …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

So I had a very linux savy friend spend more than 2 hours on the phone babysitting me and telling me what to type and how to compile this. I got dosbox ECE to work in linux and my brake pedal and everything work correct. The problem is the processor occupancy. I have the cycles in the game set to …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

you might be able to change the stuff with the joysticktype setting. That's what I thought too, and I think I tried every variation in the config file. Other users reported this issue it's all over the forum and found on google as well. The only way I could get it to work was combining the 2 "axis" …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

the configfile should be in ~/.dosbox you might want to experiment with the circularinput setting, as well as the joystick type. I could not get any of the linux versions to work so I tried installing an EXE of the ECE version in windows. It was the windows version I couldn't find the config file …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

UPDATE - I was able to get my game to work in windows 7 with ECE (and Daum) and they both have the correct timing (the game speed is perfect) but the steering wheel control is broken in both ECE and Daum. With ECE I can't even find the location of the config file, so I can't mess with the joystick …
