Re: ARK Logic VLB wait states

If it makes you feel any better, I already tried replacing all the RAM on my card with 45ns parts (originally 70ns) and it made absolutely no difference in terms of overclocking the bus. Which motherboard are you using your card in? Sometimes there is a jumper on the motherboard itself which …

Re: ARK Logic VLB wait states

What mainboard do you use? Bios settings? What CPU? 33MHz or 40MHz local bus clock? My Ark is running fine with 0WS on the Asus VL/I-486SV2GX4 at 40MHZ. Not possible on the PVI-486SP3 at 40MHz. It's a Shuttle HOT-419 , with an Intel 486 DX4-100. 33 MHz clock. RAM and cache timings are on the …

Re: ARK Logic VLB wait states

I don't think faster video RAM will solve your issue. Faster video RAM can remove flicker artifacts at high resolution / refresh rate, and faster video RAM can avoid corrupted images. But faster video RAM will not prevent system crashes / freezes. The freezes indicate an issue between the ARK chip …

Re: ARK Logic VLB wait states

So I have this card, and it's pretty fast in DOS, but can't get it stable with 0 W/S. It makes all kinds of screen artifacts and freezes right away during boot. Do you think replacing the video RAM with 60ns chips would make any difference? https://i.imgur.com/eDveS6h.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ …

Re: MPU-401 and MIF-IPC-B question

Thank you! didn't find these reference but found another straight cable and a gender changer, hopefully i'll be good! Hey, any conclusion with the cable and the setup in general since? Got myself an MPU 401 box, and already have an MT-32, but nothing else, yet, so I am kinda in the same boat where …

Re: Can I connect an MPU-401 to a Sound Card?

That I know, I was just wondering if a sound card's UART port would suffice to bring it to life No you'll need that LoTech mif ipc clone card or a roland original and one of these unless you want to fry it. https://www.amazon.com/Your-Cable-Store-DB25-Serial/dp/B07JPDWNKY This is the way. Thanks

Can I connect an MPU-401 to a Sound Card?

Pretty much as the title suggests, I bought an MPU-401 breakout box but I don't have an interface card for it. Will it work if I hook it up to the MIDI UART port of a sound card? I also have a MT-32 module. I know I can connect this directly to a sound card, but want to test the MPU-401.

Re: Sound Blaster CT1600 overheating

I have one of these cards. Can you explain a short procedure to see if this is reproducible? I don't have a CD-ROM compatible with this card. Does any a part of it still get hot without this device connected? I've just tried the card in another motherboard and PSU, and *drumroll* the overheating …

Re: Sound Blaster CT1600 overheating

All of the three buffer/driver chips seem to be connected to the 8 ISA data bits. If they get hot, it looks like they fight each other driving data to the ISA bus. The left one is used to drive data from the ISA bus to the CD cable and vice versa. It must not get hot at all if the CD drive is not …
