I'm also voting for the 8-bit card. Games with AWE support are 1994+, like later versions of Doom/Doom II, runnable on a 386, but slow.

On ftp://retron.de/driver/Trident/TVGA folder placed 2 archives - UA63_DOS.ZIP and UX64_UTL.ZIP SVM and other tools worked with 8800BR ftom it. In SVM you can choose different modes and test it, but can't apply it to adapter :(( pain... "Set Mode for Trident 93/94/96xx Families" so, VLB/PCI era...

I tried to get two FDCs (on regular multi-I/O cards) working together, but without success. Ended up using a GSI four-floppy card, with its own BIOS.

In PC DOS/MS-DOS there's no official way. But it should be possible to patch IBMBIO.COM/IO.SYS, replacing the string "\CONFIG.SYS" with "C:\CONF.SYS"...
