There is no perfect sound card. It's what makes dos gaming so fun! Generally if you can use midi, it will sound best. Followed by genuine opl3. I like the case. I would have used it for my WinXP/Core2Duo system, but I built it with a similar Corsair case instead. Is that a floppy drive bay down the bottom right? Not that it would be much use on a modern system but anyway.

Can't really use 2 3dfxs in one, easily. I prefer v5 and v2sli. But I have lots a of builds. If I only had a single early win98 build I would choose the v3. V5 should be fine for 2d dos games, haven't heard otherwise. V2sli works well for dos Glide games. You mean it works "easily" or it does "not" …

Any bug free, ISA midi card is useful, intelligent mode or not. And you could easily run MUNT on another device and connect this to it using midi2usb adapter. Thankfully awesome people here have made clones of cards like this, but an original would be quite sought after still.

I actually really liked the SFF case, it has room for 2 full-height PCI cards through a riser, AGP and one half height PCI slot. Looks kindof cool. No you just need a 3x2 straight through ribbon cable. They will most certainly not be called SBLINK or PC/PCI cables...that is long, long dead technology those only weirdos like us know about.

Nice rig. I also use those cheap fan brackets...the thing that annoyed me was they take up 2 pci slots, while not actually screwing into both for support. $3 from China, what to expect. I also had a LG flatron back in the day. Are you planning on putting an ISA sound card in there?
