Re: I was finally able to succesfully (mostly) PCI passthrough a real PCI Voodoo 3 2000 to a Windows 98 SE QEMU KVM VM

I have not bothered to do it cleanly, TBH. I just boot to a non graphical target (set with systemctl) and I run rmmod -f nouveau (most often not even necessary, I only nedded to rmmod when passing through a second GPU, 750TI, as a test). I did do it more cleanly a while back on another host running …

Re: I was finally able to succesfully (mostly) PCI passthrough a real PCI Voodoo 3 2000 to a Windows 98 SE QEMU KVM VM

By isolation, do you mean binding to vfio drivers to avoid use of the PCI(E) device by the host ? Exactly. This process always failed on me on Debian 12. So how did you obtain the result? I have not bothered to do it cleanly, TBH. I just boot to a non graphical target (set with systemctl) and I run …

Re: I was finally able to succesfully (mostly) PCI passthrough a real PCI Voodoo 3 2000 to a Windows 98 SE QEMU KVM VM

I used these as reference points [1] . Some of the stuff is not absolutely necessary. For example a Q35 machine type version 7.2 works fine for me under XP. Yes, I have a GTX 970 passed through to Windows 7 and XP VMs under Debian 12 on a B450 platform. As a test, I also got bith a GTX970 and a GTX 750TI passed through to the same Windows 7 VM at the same time with working multi-monitor support. Not sure if I tried with Windows 10 on this setup, but I …

Re: AWE64 Gold CT4390 Firmware

I see. My plan in the beginning was to rewrite the original firmware with other CT4390 firmware that is known to be working. I have read articles in the past about people who used dos based software that was designed to backup or rewrite AWE64 firmware. This might be such a tool though the firmware …

Re: AWE64 Gold CT4390 Firmware

Thank you for you reply. This is a good answer I must say and the best solution is to find this sb2awe software on the web. Also, don't know where should I find a firmware update because I searched the web and couldn't get anything useful.

AWE64 Gold CT4390 Firmware

I am planning to buy an AWE64 Gold model CT4390 sound card at a pretty low price. The seller advertise it as being defective because the Windows driver would not install it correctly. It could be many things but if it comes to a worst case scenario, something like a last resort measure, I will want …
