Re: The way to detect OPL3 clone

wbc wrote on 2023-09-22, 19:33: ... was "LS245" clone on ALS100+ card and YMF71x/724, but other cards are always welcome), and have fun 😀 You probably meant LS262, because LS245 is a mere TTL buffer which is also present on your sound card and externally looks similar.

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

When writing SBEMU, I have to search & learn documents about SB to make it work. I think Gravis would be the same, I believe the documents/programming guides can be found on the web, but I'm not ready to to that right now. Maybe later when SBEMU is more stable & compatible. It'll be good if you can …

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

EDIT: I think it's possible to write a 16bit protected mode wrapper that calls the 32bit TSR as interrupt service: just trapping the same ports and pass the commands, DMA addresses to the 32bit TSR and let it do the actual job. Thus recompilation of the soundcard drivers and OPL3 emulation can be …

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

Interesting suggestion but I'm not sure yet how/whether it could be done, probably another io trapping of speaker port. You have to trap port 61h and PIT channel 2, so corresponding ports and behavior too. All trapped ports most likely should be passed to the real ports too. More info can be found …

Re: SBEMU: Sound Blaster emulation on AC97

The latency might depend on the game? With Duke Nukem 2 on a P3 I'm seeing maybe 50-100ms latency but less than I can properly notice for sound effects. ... edit 2: just observed latency for myself, it's particularly obvious in the menus of doom but far less apparent in actual gameplay The latency …
