Re: Ati Rage LT Pro

Hello, what's the difference between this graphic (Ati Rage LT Pro) and Ati Rage Pro? The regular Rage Pro doesn't have an on-die LVDS transmitter and a on-die TV encoder. The Rage LT Pro has both. It is better or worse card? Performance-wise, that'll depend on the board implementation itself. …

Re: HD7990 in WinXP?

Seems like AMD were talking BS when they said it supported XP Well, you're not the only one who was fooled. I thought my Radeon HD 8650G had XP support too. As a last resort, install Catalyst 13.4 or 13.1 with their respective INF mods applied, see how it goes. CX154613.inf = Catalyst 13.1 - …

Re: HD7990 in WinXP?

I suppose it is typical for AMD to pull that off. Evidence: I have a Radeon HD 8650G that has no 3D or 2D acceleration under XP SP2 x64, with Catalyst 14.4 installed. You might have the same issue as I do, albeit in a different form. It might be worth a try to ask somebody here with a Radeon HD 7970 …

Re: HD7990 in WinXP?

The PCI ID for the Radeon HD 7990 isn't there, which explains why it doesn't install the display driver. Try reinstalling it with a .INF modded Catalyst 14.4: https://docs.google.com/uc?export=download&id=1piSDhI4TW5hui4PSLMRUKXg2mgNZ2exR Don't forget to run rootsupd.exe (included in the .7z file) …

Re: Messing around with Linux on an AppleTV

That was 'XPOnMac' and it only worked for Windows XP SP2 and SP3. Anything older than that is a crapshoot, as you're likely to run into issues with the xomdd.sys driver. Windows 2000 SP4 might work however, seeing as it is somewhat similar to XP. It did, I've tried it on my A1212 MacBook Pro 17.

Download CrystalDiskMark v2.2.0p_9x from this website: https://www.usbdev.ru/files/crystaldiskmark/ Run it, then you should get a clear report on the HDD's health. I'm nearly out of ideas at this point. Have you tried changing the 'driver memory footprint' or similar in the graphics control panel? A …

I'm guessing that the video controller isn't the issue, for now at least. As this problem seems to be rather... complicated, I'd like you to state your R31's amount of RAM and the storage drive that is used to install Windows 98 SE. It would be also appreciated if you could check the storage drive's …

Try these three drivers: https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&i … 6UTBaNEy2bYY2kV Your driver version is 4.13.01.3205, assuming that you have downloaded it from Lenovo's EOL archive. It doesn't hurt to try the older or newer versions at this point, though.

Your 82830MG memory controller likely has an i754 or an Extreme Graphics 1 core. I suggest replacing DOS/4GW with DOS/32A, see if …

Forcing a Mobile Pentium 4-M, or a Mobile Pentium 4 to run at their maximum speed on desktop motherboards

This got me wondering, are they capable of such a feat in a motherboard that doesn't support EIST (SpeedStep)? For Prescott-based Mobile Pentium 4 CPUs, I see it as a possibility as their SpeedStep functionality is software-based. According to the datasheet, they specifically utilize MSRs to switch …

Re: Your Retrogaming laptop/portable machine megathread (recommendations, tips, minutae)

I see, I did not know that you also factored in the cost of keeping the said machine running. I initially thought that you only factored in the cost of buying the machine altogether, at least that was my assumption from your recommendations. I suppose that I do not have anything else to say, as most …

Re: Your Retrogaming laptop/portable machine megathread (recommendations, tips, minutae)

If this is all about gaming, why does it not have a Clevo (or one of its resellers) sitting in one of the recommendations? I recall that they had the fastest possible performance you could get from their portable desk-laps. For your defined eras, I would say that the Clevo M590KE should fit in Era …
