Re: Pentium 90 Socket 7

in PC Emulation
maybe this will help you. http://www.cpushack.net/UpgradeProcessors.html Very nice page you found there! :) I hadn't actually heard of those voltage adapters before. I guess they were in specialized upgrade kits? (I remember reading about something by Evergreen that might have been a little like …

Re: Pentium 90 Socket 7

in PC Emulation
He's just saying that you need socket 7 if the CPU needs separate core and IO voltages. Pentium MMX can't be used on socket 5 without a voltage adapter. I believe the reason that Pentium 166 and 200 (non-MMX) don't work on Socket 5 is insufficient multipliers, not voltage requirements.

Re: PS2 port ISA card?

in PC Emulation
I have a MSI MS4144 motherboard. I think it has a unsoldered PS2 connector on the board up by the DIN KB connector, but that probably means there are missing surface components for it. Some of these boards probably came with PS2 KB and mouse. Nice board, but I wish it had 4 PCI. Don't need all those …

Re: Terminator Skynet problem

So playing Skynet in SVGA is a lost cause, as far as I can tell. No matter what, within a minute or two of gameplay, DOSBOX itself will crash. I don't think I've ever seen a command line after it crashes; it just takes DOSBOX with it. What I've tried so far: -Various versions of DOSBOX, including 0. …

PS2 port ISA card?

in PC Emulation
Anyone have one of these? I have this really quite nice 486 PCI mobo but it's limited to serial, parallel, and KB DIN. Serial mice are just not my favorite thing 🤣 (choppy and few mice work). I've been watching ebay but these cards are ultra rare...

Re: old 286, what to do with it?

in PC Emulation
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_2.1x I never touched Windows until 3.1. What was the point? 😀 I was almost purely DOS, but had a Tandy with Deskmate too (more of a curiosity than anything useful). Windows 3.1 will run on a 286 as well, but not particularly quickly.

Re: Dosbox, Dual Core, and Joysticks

Try setting "timed=false" in the conf file under joystick, I believe. This fixed all my joystick problems. I use a Flightstick Pro. One person who I was chatting with once said that "joysticktype=" may need to be changed too, but I didn't need to touch that.

Sometimes I can get it to scale when I switch it to full screen. It's a strange thing. It won't always do it. You might need to start it windowed and then Alt+Enter, or maybe have it start in full screen. Not sure.

Re: Geforce 2 ultra

in PC Emulation
hmmm, yea like 5u3 said, VIA MVP3 doesn't like AGP cards that use lots of power or try to fully use the AGP standard. You will probably have issues with it in some games. 3D may not work at all, random reboots, BSODs... Those SS7 boards had terrible AGP compatibility and performance. In my …
