Re: The VSA-100 based Quantum TX 8464

in Marvin \ Video
They're not really faster than the 6000, as they only do AA. So it's more like a 4500. You can check Gary's website for more info : http://www.thedodgegarage.com/3dfx/q3d_aa5_faq.htm http://www.thedodgegarage.com/3dfx/q3d_aalchemy.htm If anyone is interested, I uploaded some BIOS dumps here: http:// …

Re: ISA VGA card with DVI port, could one be made?

in Marvin \ Video
Can't say exactly when, but at some point I plan to make this work with most cards that have an external RAMDAC. VGA port will still work. There's no scaling at the moment, but it could be added later on. Filename 20200724_014822.jpg File size 1.79 MiB Views 235 views Filename 20200724_014812.jpg …

Re: Agp to pcie adapter

in Marvin \ Video
I made (GPU-MB) AGP-PCI, AGP-PCIe, PCI-PCIe, adapters. The PCIe ones are x4 and can overclock the PCI/AGP interface. I will open source all of them at some point. I design hardware for a living and this year was a nightmare due to the IC shortages, I Iiterally have no time to work on these at the …

Re: NETPOWER ULTRAfx

in Marvin \ Video
There were no drivers on the HDDs. At some point, another video card was installed in the system, and someone did a clean install. Only those drivers were there, no trace of the ultrafx drivers.

Re: Voodoo 2 SLI Issue

in Marvin \ Video
The SLI SYNC signals go to the FBI, so in no way that cable would have caused TMU related faults. Also, the memory itself is most likely fine, check the TMU pins (poke them and see if they move, also check for shorts between pins).

Re: Voodoo 2 SLI Issue

in Marvin \ Video
The 4 twisted wires are GND, SLI SYNC IN, SLI SYNC OUT, GND. Using a cable without the twist will just connect SYNC OUT to SYNC OUT and SYNC IN to SYNC IN. This really shouldn't cause any damage. Most likely the card was DOA.

Re: Noise on pass-through of a Voodoo2 card

in Marvin \ Video
The RAMDAC has nothing to do with the VGA passthrough. You can remove it completely and the passthrough will still work. Involved in the passhtrough circuitry are the VGA connectors, U10 ( QST3384/ PI5C3384C) and FB6,C36,C38 (U10 power filtering). FB6, C36, C38 values can be found here: https://www. …

Re: Whats wrong with this voodoo 2 Bad Ram or bad TMU

in Marvin \ Video
TMU0 is on the right side of the card. I fixed quite a few V2 cards, and I never found one with faulty RAM. In case of artifacts, almost always the issue was loose pins. Take a sharp tool (a needle would work fine) and gently poke all the TMU pins, see if they move. Do this for both TMUs.
