Aces of the Pacific music is slow

I tried running Dynamix's Aces of the Pacific in WinXP. The music was slow. I couldn't get the throttle on my game port joystick to work, either, but beggers can't be choosers.😀 I've also tried DOS Box 0.58, which resulted in normal speed sound and VERY slow action.

Re: Where did your money go today? ($1,000+ Purchases Thread)

Gingival grafts. On Friday, I had skin taken from the roof of my mouth and sewn onto my gums. Not too painful, but it will continue to feel strange while I'm eating until the stitches, and the goop that's covering them on the roof of my mouth, comes out. That will be Thursday. I'm gonna need this …

Re: USB joystick with old DOS games?

VDMSound will emulate joysticks, so USB is not a problem. Remember, however, the issues of usb vs. gameport and analog vs digital are two different issues. USB joysticks can be digital or analog, digital joysticks can be gameport or usb, and gameport joysticks can be digital or analog. I'm not aware …

Re: voodoo 2

in Windows
Unless your FSB:PCI divider is set to 1/1 or 1/2, running at 100 MHz should not be a problem. In systems designed for 100 MHz FSB, the divider is 1:3, so the 32-bit PCI bus runs at 33 Mhz, like it should.

Re: voodoo 2

That's what I do under WinXP, and it seems to work. You'll need to load some modified drviers for the Voodoo2, however. Go to: http://www.falconfly.de/voodoo2.htm and scroll to the bottom of the screen for the WinXP drivers. I've only used the basic drivers for WinXP, but some of the other drivers …

Re: The exceptions to the rule...

I've noticed this also. Could it be that, w/out VDMS, Sherlock loads a Windows Sound System 1.0/2.0 (2.0 runs on any hardware) compatible driver (which, I guess, WinXP emulates). When loading WSS 1.0/2.0 driver, Sherlock probably makes no direct calls to the hardware. If you load VDMS, Sherlock …

I used QEMM up to version 7.5 (I vaguely recall that it was the last version released before Win95). I didn't bother with later versions, since I was using Win95 and no longer booting up in DOS. With most driver intense (requiring CDROM, mouse, and sound card) DOS games using DOS extenders and …

Re: Anti-glare coating

in Milliways
I can't tell you how to get rid of the coating, but I've learned how to clean a screen with an anti-glare coating. Turn the monitor off and wipe it thoroughly with a damp chamois cloth. Then, remove most of the chamois litter from the screen lightly with a dry lint-free cloth. Spray with compressed …

613K? Where's QEMM when you need it? That was a great program back in the DOS days, once you learned how to use it. Too bad it's absolutely useless under NT/2K/XP. It may have been possible to use it while booting in pure DOS mode, i.e., DOS 7.0 that came with Win95, but I never tried that.

Re: OMF2097 crashes when entering fights

in DOS
Stability with this game is give and take. I can usually get in a match or two before a crash to desktop. Make sure that your sound card settings in the game match the configuration for VDMS, and select medium quality sound. Make sure to apply the update for VDMS 2.04. Also, a new version of OMF is …

Re: audigy dos drivers

Here are the audigy 1 drivers. I'll have to do this in 3 parts Delete the checkos.exe file before you install, or just extract all files but for checkos.exe. Otherwise, they will not install under WinME. BTW, AFAIK, there are no DOS drivers for Audigy2. I've heard that the audigy1 drivers will not …

Re: audigy dos drivers

I have the audigy cd w/ the dos drivers. I'll try posting them here before week's end. A reply to this email might help remind me. The DOS drivers will NOT install as is under WinMe. If you want to setup the DOS drivers in WinME, you'll need to do the following: What you need * one(1)extra free IRQ …

Riven and Myst were incredibly tough for me. My artistic skills never progressed beyond the kindergarten level. And that's probably an insult to many kindergartners.
