Re: Good cooling solution for older GPU’s?

For older and not very power-hungry chips I'm using Sekisui #5760 double adhesive thermal tape. Ordered a couple of years ago from ebay so can't be 100% certain that it's genuine, but seems to be holding (and transfering heat) very well. And you've just reminded me that I only have about a quarter …

Re: Good cooling solution for older GPU’s?

I've converted many medium power gpus to passive cooling and upgraded other cooling things. The thermal glues (even superglue) work well and the trick is a small drop in the center with a small amount of regular paste of choice for the bulk of the area. With a small center drop it's easy to twist …

Re: Good cooling solution for older GPU’s?

interesting but if they never had them its because they were designed not to need them are you doing something that adds heat? trying to minimise risk of heat damage? I do find 'home brew' cooling methods interesting, partly because they are often actually quite good I’ve overclocked a PCX2 based …

Re: PowerVR Fun Thread

MMD143AK is original detail in that card? hmm i have modded PowerVR card with heat sink and cooler that i guess from 486 pc processor. need to look what exactly i have than. Ist a bit risky to change original details in cards/accelerators =0 Correct, the original was an MMD143AK or a A159H7, which …

Good cooling solution for older GPU’s?

Has anyone found a good solution for attaching heat sinks and fans to the GPU’s that never originally had them? Right now I’m MacGruber-ing it with rubber bands and paper clips lol. Is there a thermal adhesive tape that actually works? I’d rather not use an epoxy that would be difficult to remove if …

Re: PowerVR Fun Thread

So 18.432 is just a bit too much, seeing some graphics corruption even with a make shift cooler, which admittedly isn’t the best. But damn it’s quite a bit faster! Unreal@512x384x24=58fps, up from 49 Quake2@640x480x24=30fps , up from 24 Quake@400x300x24=71fps , up from 64 Maybe with better cooling …

Re: ATI Xpert 98 refuses to work in Win98

No prompt here but I went ahead and installed DX9, unfortunately still having the same issue. If I attempt to change the display resolution it will ask to restart and then I’m presented with this error on startup. Appreciate everyone’s help so far, I’m sure we’ll figure it out!

Re: PowerVR Fun Thread

Looking at the guide I posted earlier trying to figure out the pin disconnect method mentioned but I can’t seem to find the “AV9107-05” IC on the board. Can anyone point it out? Thanks!

Re: PowerVR Fun Thread

Sounds like that mwdmeyer's cool new card is doing the pin lifting mod mentioned in the guide you found Chadti.. Overclocking your FSB/PCI speed really helps all round performance as well. I am trying to get a system stable with the PCI bus at 50MHz +, then I might test this mod in conjunction. I …
