Re: Switching regulator module as replacement for hot linear regulators (mainly used on PCI VGA cards)

Very nice job. That looks amazing! :-) I added your project to the vrm projects thread. :-) https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=86611&p=1132549#p1132549 Didn't know there was one. Thanks! :D I have an aversion against switching components, mildly said. I rather prefer calm, less efficient …

Re: Switching regulator module as replacement for hot linear regulators (mainly used on PCI VGA cards)

Hi, shortly I had made a post about a switching regulator module I once made for my PCI Riva TNT card to replace the very hot linear one. Half Life on the other hand was the complete opposite. While not beeing as sophisticated as Unreal technically …

Re: Geforce 4 ti 4200 upgrade

What is your old RAM? Can you post a pic? Here's the pic. Do I need to change anything on the board of the GF4 Ti 4200 if I change to a different brand of memory such as the one listed a couple of post above? (I've seen YouTubers change straps for new RTX cards when they change the brand of memory …

Re: Switching regulator module as replacement for hot linear regulators (mainly used on PCI VGA cards)

Hmm, something happened to my reply from last Friday ... I'll try to replicate ... I get now why the PCI cards tend to have the ridiculously hot running 3.3v regulators. The card is relying on the 5v supply from the PCI slot and using the regulator to drop it down to 3.3v, so there is a lot of waste …
