Re: Midi switch

Thanks again all! Too many options... 😀 Looking into it. I also have a Roland MPU-401 MIDI processing unit, but missing the original Roland ISA card to go with it, so I'm looking into the new "Lo-tech MIF IPC B" to add to the system.

Re: Midi switch

For gaming/miditower reasons I would recommend a MIDI THRU box like this one: https://www.serdashop.com/MIDI-THRU-BOX You have all your modules connected to it and you power them on on demand (one or all at once does not matter to the thru box) You can daisy chain THRU boxes or even use DM15MIDI to …

Re: Midi switch

Depends, MIDI-THRU boxes are cheap, but they only have 1 input. I like MIDI patch bays myself as they have multiple inputs and outputs, so I can send any input to any output with the buttons on the front. Personally, I use Edirol UM550. (Half rack, 5 inputs, 5 outputs, and USB.) The UM880 is full …

Re: Midi switch

I'm curious about your choice of modules. Cm300 and SC55 are exactly the same. Sc7 is also very similar as few PC games use GS. Mu50 and Mu80 will also sound indentical in 95% of games. Nothing wrong with collecting, just curious about your choices. You're right. The CM-300 and SC-7 are there just …

Re: Sound Blaster: From best to worst

Recent card i picked up, might possibly not be on the list yet/documented properly as i couldn't really find alot of info about it. Kind of an oddball though. Edit; Added the enclosure pictures/other end of the connector aswell, picture reference from here; https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p= …

Midi switch

Hi guys and gals! I've accumulated a few midi synth modules over the years, but currently I can only have one hooked up at the time via my SoundBlaster AWE64. I'm not an advanced user and it took me quite some head scratching to get them working in the first place :-0 What do you recommend as a …

Re: AWE64 + CM-300 problems...

The red power light is on - but not blinking. I'll try some headphones and/or speakers directly. Thanks for the tip! The red power light will always just be lit up when it's power on. The amber light to the left will flash when it received it sees MIDI data. Since it's not flashing it's not seeing …

AWE64 + CM-300 problems...

Hi - and thanks for any help! I'm trying to get a Roland CM-300 (SC-55 for computers - no interface) to work with my SoundBlaster AWE64, but seems to me it uses the AWE64 synth rather than the CM-300. When testing the AWE64 in "SB16/Diagnose.exe" in MS-DOS I'm sure it's using the AWE64 and not the …
