Re: Geforce 7900 GS AGP Windows 98

I strongly advise against using anything newer than a 6800 in win98. Even the 6800 has issues - especially if it's one of the late 512MB DDR2 models. 7xxx drivers are buggy and cause lots of compatibility and performance issues in win98, not to mention BSODs and other weird happenings. OK, and …

Re: VooDoo3 MSDOS6.22 Games

Monitor is some HP LCD it's native resolution is 1920x1080 and 60Hz it has VGA/DVI. Actually I doubt the issue is the monitor but will try some other later. It's like there is a weird screen lagging in the mentioned games. I have retested them with an S3virge 1MB PCI card and come to the same …

OS2 3Dfx driver

Hello, Is there any driver which supports 3D acceleration for Voodoo3 for OS2? ( The only thing I could find is this SciTech Display Doctor 7 driver: sddse704.exe (not sure if this is the latest version) This driver at least works even up to (1600x1200 which is a bit lulz for a 16MB video card) but …

Re: 3C905C on OS2

Thanks for the answers. Yeah actually it was ... a clusterfuck but I get it working ;) I share the solution because there might be somebody some day for some reason want to torture himself with OS2. So that EL59.oS2 I don't even know where that was coming from, the setup put it in there or whatever …

3C905C on OS2

Hello, I wonder if anyone succeeded with this card, precisely 3c905C-TX/TX-M works fine in all old OSes. However OS2 is always a basket case, now I getting close to at least making it work on some old hardware, because this beast won't run on tons of older machines. To be precise this is the "newer" …

Re: VooDoo3 DOS Games

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough this topic is for pure MSDOS 6.22 only. I just mentioned that in Win98 everything works fine. For Msdos it doesn't make any difference if you have 512mb ram or 4gb ram, no difference at all.

VooDoo3 MSDOS6.22 Games

I wonder if someone run into the following issue. My setup: Some VIA board with Apollo Pro / VT82C596 chipset 512MB Ram Pentium III Coppermine (Socket 370) 1000Mhz Voodoo3 AGP 16 MB ram This is mostly a Win98SE gaming rig but I have setup a separate MSDOS 6.22 partition for just the fun of it. I …

Re: Best GPU for an Athlon MP (WinXP)

First link is a very useful interactive guide. The second link explains it a lot better but only has the mods looking at the CPU pin side. https://www.ocinside.de/workshop_en/amd_pinmod/ http://www.emboss.co.nz/amdmults/ Edit: Which 3000+ CPUs are you running? The MPs look like they only go up to …

Re: Best GPU for an Athlon MP (WinXP)

https://i.ibb.co/TL20KCt/cpuid.png https://i.ibb.co/P4vDNGr/cachemem.png Why is this crap saying that the cpus are like 800Mhz? Also with this board a lot of readouts in aida are weird like it says somewhere that the second cpu is intel :D Either way with this board there is no way to do any …

Re: Best GPU for an Athlon MP (WinXP)

Hmm I give a shot to: 93.71_forceware_winxp2k_international_whql.exe Its pretty much the same results, 3dmark crashes, fps in games not improved and even worse some games like Cod2 now randomly crash. I not just uninstalled the old driver and reinstalled the new driver btw. I restored the system …

Re: Best GPU for an Athlon MP (WinXP)

Thanks for the suggestion, I chose the 7800GS even tho my research shows there would've been still better AGP cards like: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-7950-gt-agp.c754 But probably wouldn't matter as the CPUs being a bottleneck in many games. Here are my results with the rig …

Re: Best GPU for an Athlon MP (WinXP)

Thanks for the suggestions. This is not about pimping out this build by replacing the motherboard lololo. It is about finding the BEST graphic card for this board. I have other retro builds as well and as a last resort I can always just play on my Core i7 Asus ROG gaming laptop ;) This board is …

Best GPU for an Athlon MP (WinXP)

Ok folks so I considering getting some badboy for this boxen. This is a Tyan S2466 board with 2x Athlon MPs so it's a perfect Windows XP retro gaming. As the manual says: 4x AGP graphics card I had a Geforce 4200Ti in this. Some game benchmarks on XPSP3 with 4200ti: Dungeon Siege 15FPS COD2 30 FPS …
