What's the difference between the Multimedia Pro 16 ABI and ABO? According to some posts, they seem to use the same FCC ID MMSN850, but there's no information how to tell them apart. Main difference between this cards is on presents of IDE interface on ABI and missing it on the ABO. All other specs …

Re: Roland SC-88 Pro (hopefully) helpful hints

I've looked in the manual and I don't get it. Can someone explain to me, what is the difference between choosing a different map and compatibility mode? Looking at the picture from the manual, I don't see differences between the SC-88Pro default mode SC-88 map, SC-88Pro SC-88 compatibility mode …

Re: The Roland CM-500 GS/LA Sound Module

Re: IBM Music Feature Card/Yamaha FB-01

Sounded better than the Adlib cards and some of the Sierra games I've bought from GOG.com work with it as well. I also installed the FB01 driver on there to see how it works since some of the games require MIDI channel 1 to be the main one. I got the real unit today as well and that works with it, …

Re: The Roland CM-500 GS/LA Sound Module

I have a CM-500 but it seems to have a strange hanging note issue that is not caused by my MIDI interface (tried both an AWE32 and PCMIDI card—both my MT32 and SC55 work fine on both of these FYI). I notice it most often when I play Wing Commander 1, where if my ship gets damaged (causing a loud …

Re: Synthesizers that came with video game music

I got my Roland SC-8820 and tested them with different maps that it support. I used SFX.mid file to check it compatibility with MT-32, CM-32L and CM-64. And could say that SFX sounds sound very similar as may difference is in polyphony capabilities : some can only play 28 notes at ones (MT-32 & CM- …

Re: Sound Blaster 16 Clones

I have one and testing it at present moment. I'll say it very good platform for retro gaming - compact and have enough power. In DOS integrated SB16 can be easy configured via Unisound util. And DOS games well work with this SB16 clone - tested with Wolfenstein 3D
