Re: Does Win98se need SB16 Drivers

Installed sbw9xup.exe dated [4 November 1998] SDR-95UPD-1-US (Revision 16) These appear to be the latest from creative but are older than the drivers in Win98. It fixes a full duplex issue recording and playing music. I tried it recording from line in when playing sound on a game and it is working …

Re: Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis no speech

in DOS
To get Lucasarts talkies to work with sound on some PCs, I often have to do all three of : Install the game updates Disable L1/L2 cache (+underclock if possible) Use precisely version 2.04 of Cutemouse (nothing else works (even MS mouse) - I think because of buggy BIOS, 2.04 bypasses the BIOS). …

Re: Building an Emulation Station.

I've got most of the parts of my last build just laying around so I've decided to take them and make an emulation station for my living room. It will consist of : i9 9900k RTX 2080ti Maximus Hero XI wifi 500GB WD Black M.2 3 either 3 or 4 TB HDDs (No Soundcard, I think for emulation into a stereo …

Re: What version of Mechwarrior 2?

The Pentium editions and such should all have 3DFX support out of the box. Not sure if it'll work on a V3, MW2 was one of the original Glide games. Never tried. It doesn't. "Pentium edition" predates 3dfx releases by quite a while (1995), and the 3dfx OEM version that came with some V1 cards are …

Re: Intel arc and d3d9

........native D3D9 driver support was still a thing? I guess its more about backwards compatiblity...most 32bit games will run on newer systems out of the box... Understandable, I guess. It's hard to imagine for casual users that a simple game using Direct Draw or Direct 3D 3 won't run out of box. …

Yeah CD is in and it is the first CD drive. I guess maybe it is fast CPU problem it being Pii 300mhz like leileilol suggested? This game has issues with anything faster than a low end 486. Unfortunately, that PII300 is not a very flexible CPU. If you slow it down by disabling the L1 cache, it will …

Re: Intel Ark drops native Direct3D 9 support.

Hi everyone. It has begun, it seems. There will be graphics cards that don't support older D3D anymore (natively). A wrapper must be used, so that a newer (supported) Direct3D API can be used with DirectX 1-9 titles. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-xe-arc-swap-to-dx9-emulation Until now, …
