I just want to confirm when you say record, you are meaning taking the line out of the audio device and recording to a digital audio file like WAV or MP3?

There are a couple of midi files yes and some text files which might help give some idea as to how this all happened. I will post a link tomorrow, google drive probably until we have a better, permanent place to store them.

The biggest is 15MB. 26 are in the 2MB to 9MB range. 46 are around 1MB. Then over 300 under 1MB.

Arturia make some amazing soft synths and have a free version nowadays if anyone wants to play around with them. Still blows my mind how good they sound.

Once Windows 95 came along we started to see some really amazing design and animation packages. I remember buying Hash’s Animation Master, a 3D program that used spline patches, not polygons. It was a very different way of working, but taught me so much about character animation.

Autodesk had Animator and Animator Pro which I used a fair bit when I moved from the Amiga to a DOS PC. I also used Imagine 4.0 and 3D Studio R4. It was not the best experience after years of Amiga, but rendering was blazingly fast.

I really think your two choices are good ones along with the Alienware suggestion. Dell machines are ubiquitous and so will be easier to replace parts and get spare machines. I remember my dad and I spending a lot of time getting his Unisys 286 configured with 1MB of ram in 1988 or 89. It was all individual chips and needed jumper settings on the motherboard. Of course it was a DOS only system.
