Re: What game are you playing now?

Welp. 'Homeworld: Remastered Collection' is going to be my go to for the foreseeable future since GOG has it 90% off right now. $34.99 to $3.49 is a dagnabbit good deal. Includes the original games as well. Done. I dabbled with it back in the late 90s, but never had time to play around with it in …

Re: Are we opening sealed copies of old games?

What I'm wondering is how many of you are buying sealed "newer" games which are Internet activated and keeping them sealed? I’m mostly after games containing interesting, physical assets. Mainly RPGs for the maps and comprehensive manuals. I guess there’s a nostalgic factor to it too. That being …

I seem to remember that I mentioned in another thread, what if Heritage Auctions and what not of bad stuff(and mentioning Karl Jobst), happened with our little niche/hobby. Just watched the first video in your links. I had heard about the debacle from Neil Thomas' and John Shawler's "This Week in …

A sealed box may not always be 'new' - it could be resealed but then you wouldn't know without opening it! My head just exploded. I never considered the possibility of fraudulent resealing! Cause I am a PC games/video game player. Not a collector. My sentiment exactly, so I've decided to open it.

Are we opening sealed copies of old games?

What is your general stance on sealed copies of old games? Personally, I like to keep my boxed copies in good shape but prefer to see them used. I'm asking because I just received a sealed copy of Age of Wonders. I loved this game to pieces back in the day and it was definitely my aim to play this …

Neil Thomas over at RMC has an interview with Ken Williams , who, among a lot of other things, touch the subject of the great care Sierra On-Line took of the look and feel of their products. I remember some pretty comprehensive manuals coming out of Sierra, "Aces over Europe" being a pure beast of …

Bring back the game manuals!

I unboxed a copy of "Warlords: Darklords Rising" yesterday and it suddenly hit me how wholesome buying a new game could feel back then. Don't get me wrong, GoG and Steam etc. are great platforms for convenience - I just miss the touch printed assets bring to the experience of owning a game. I love …

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

on capacitors, some people change them all, I don't - it usually isn't necessary, if the computer has no problem why risk making one by changing stuff like this? testing capacitors is worthy, especially if something is amiss with the component / pc Well, I might consider recapping the SB16 and S3 …

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

This thread has a list of some known cards that require the -5V line. It doesn't seem like the SB16 is in that list. If a ATX PSU will be more reliable than an AT one is more dependent of the manufacturer than the fact that it's ATX. In any case a good quality PSU should give you trouble free …
