Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

The drive bay positioning is very unhelpful for reaching with IDE cables, as I had to use the longest round cable within the IDE spec to get it to reach. The PSU ATX connector barely reaches from the bottom of the case either. It does end up pretty neat though. Can you please share what the longest …

Re: Fractal Design Pop vs. Fractal Design Define R5 as modern case options for retro PC's

I have a Define R5 for my most modern build (my i7-7700 that doesn't meet Microsoft's expectations for Windows 11...). I think the R5 is older though, aren't they up to R6 or R7 and they got rid of at least one more 5.25" bay? (I still don't understand it - it's a home-built expandable desktop PC …

Fractal Design Pop vs. Fractal Design Define R5 as modern case options for retro PC's

Hey all, I'm currently using an Antec CS600 case to house a slot 1 build and this case leaves a lot to be desired in terms of quality construction, air flow, and dust filtering. Hey all, I own a few different GeForce cards, 2 of which are already in use, and 1 that will soon be in use in a new retro build. Re: Modems in a Retro build?

No, but I still have my US Robotics Courier V. Everything (along with its original retail box!) that I can't bring myself to get rid of. I'm never gonna use it for anything again, but the sentimentality of its trusty service over the course of the 90s brings a smile to my face.

Slightly different STB Voodoo 2 models in SLI

Hello, I have 2 slightly different STB BlackMagic Voodoo 2 cards; one is model 1X0-0649-306 (dated 1998) that has 1 MB RAM chips on both sides of the card and the other is 210-0336-00X (dated 1999) with 2 MB RAM chips on one side of the card. I was just wondering if anyone knows if I'll be able to …
