Re: I love big crt's

Oh you just keep running big crts down buddy. You'll cry when they're all gone. Lcds are for sissys anyway. Hrmph! Sissies with their unbroken backs, I swear. Now excuse me while I die getting this 35" Trinitron to my basement so I can play PlayStation 1 games on it. huge.png Forum software keeps …

OS/2 Monitor Refresh Rates

Not the right place to ask but I’ve been waiting several days for my os2world account to get verified… Does anybody know how to set custom refresh rates in OS/2 Warp 3? It doesn’t seem to identify my monitor’s capabilities correctly and I don’t see anywhere obvious to force it. 800x600@56hz hertz my …

Silly XT-IDE Question

I have a 486DX4/100. The logistics of hooking up a CD-ROM drive and CFIDE adapter are tricky because I only have one ISA connector and the cable won't physically reach between them. Phew! Good question. To generate CGA artifact/composite video, an external colorburst circuit must be connected to the CGA video connector. Or more precisely, the VGA card's equivalent. Provided that the VGA card is register compatible with CGA, it may work. The external circuit would need to …

CGA composite from VGA?

Is there any way to get a CGA composite signal from a VGA/SVGA card? I’m imagining the card both supporting the mode and being able to get it by wiring an adapter up to the VGA port. Seems highly doubtful but I’ve seen weirder stuff.

YMF715 PnP IDE issue

Moved my YMF715 into the 486 I picked up. Using the IDE controller on it for my cd-rom drive and have encountered a weird problem. Basically - when first powered on the IDE controller appears to not function until initialized with SETUPSA. But because videcdd.sys loads before that happens, it can’t …
