Just out of curiosity, can you confirm you have the same problems without Virtual 8086 mode (no EMM386), who may use some undetected memory mapped devices as RAM, which would cause any sort of troubles, including those that you have (I'm not sure, I guess the Win98 installer should be smart enough) …

Can you retry without EMM386 ? I wouldn't be surprised than it causes some of your troubles.

Just in case, are you using EMS / EMM386 / UMBs ? I have some weird behaviours sometimes when I use the high memory area.

What DOS version do you use when you manually install Win98 from the MicroSD folder ? I have a Vortex86DX board, with an SD/IDE adapter, so not exactly the same thing as the Weecee, but I installed MS-DOS 7.1 (from Win98 SE) before installing Win98.

Just in case, can you plug a VGA screen ? A lot of VGA-HDMI converters don't support the DOS text mode resolution (720x400 70 Hz)
