I have acquired a km400a mb that does not power on. however if i force power i get a repeating 2 tone, higher and lower pitch. never come across that before. any idea what it means. happens with and without ram and cpu fan.

Plugged it into a am3 and it works. so is that likely the 3.3v or something deeper? Was hoping to use it in older stuff.

How do i trouble shoot a zotac GT610? No output on any port. Chip gets hot when powered. I have seen heaps of PCIe diags but not a PCI.

I have a Willem V5 running off Win XP. I get buffer errors trying to write or erase. I can clear buffer and skip 0xff and still get errors. Erase gives 0x0000000 error. The one i have been able to write and verify is no good, not even beep codes. I original chip was broken so i cant flash on board. …

I seem to have a problem with the original bios chip on a PVI-486SP3. I can get a chip but have precisely ZERO success writing any bios that will actually work. Is there a business around that can write chips? Andy

How does imgdisk do that? fformat, vgacopy, format /u all fail, mostly 0 track bad. fdformat says a: isn't a suitable drive, okkkk. will chuck out the 38. Does your drive otherwise work properly ? It could be the disks, or your drive might need servicing/cleaning/adjustment. Presume so, all 3 read …

I acquired a box of 40 unused 1.44m floppies. only 2 readily format. most say media error/track 0 bad. Is there a way to force format? i have nformat and fdformat, neither work.

its an asus pvi-486sp3. there could be csi on it. other than that, there is nothing. the manual says it has 12 and 5v for programming.

i'm still having no luck with this. it recognizes a cf card but, like a FDD, will not even attempt to read it on boot, just throw the i/o error. with an off board controller, it too recognizes the cf card and no boot either. where can i get a new bios chip from? i dont have anything to write one.

I have one of those floppies that use a usb stick cut up into 100 disks. I have found some real 3.5" floppies to try. No usb's on board, but i do have a nec chipped usb card and a usb floppy. i will give them a go. Last i tried, the usb floppy disks were not interchangeable with the real FDD's for …

having disassembled both my cd-roms, theissue is that the driving spindle does not cleanly disconnect from the dome on the inside of the lid. with the lid off, they cycle perfectly. have not found a fix yet.
