Can't install Jurassic Park CD-ROM

So I got the CD-ROM version of Jurassic Park off eBay. I made a BIN/CUE image of it and got it mounted in DOSBox. I also mounted a directory for the C drive. Then I ran the game's installer, but it doesn't list any drives to select, and I can't edit the path name either. I've got a screenshot of the …

I disabled hooking, and the graphical issues returned. The game does use GDI, and "Fix default MCI ID" does fix MIDI detection. However, DxWnd doesn't fix the garbled text, hence the need for the .sdb file. The game requires 256 color mode. Windows' compatibility database automatically sets this …

I've just made a compatibility fix for Carmen Sandiego Junior Detective. It fixes MIDI detection and garbled text. I've played through the first case and found no problems save for graphical issues (which strangely didn't happen when using DxWnd, which is odd as the game doesn't even use DirectX).

Re: Windows 3.1 / 9x games that require Quicktime

The Blaster games that had FMV cutscenes (Mega Math Blaster, Math Blaster Ages 9-12, etc.) always used QuickTime for their Mac versions. The Windows versions used Video for Windows instead at first, using the same AVI files for both platforms. The 1999 "For 3rd Grade" release of Mega Math Blaster …

I can just copy the game directories to my hard drive. No need to use the 16-bit installers. Of course, the HLP files are in WinHlp32 format, so OTVDM's WinHlp replacement is needed for those. But that's not specific to any game. EDIT: With OT3 DVD: The game expects a drive containing the DATA …

I went all the way upto "Pick your tavern partner..." dialogue and I don't see any erratic movements. Can you give a video demonstration of how it occurs on your end? What about other characters, like the innkeeper, the shopkeeper, and the party members? I know this happens with them as well. I'd …

First problem. There is no sound. Edit: NVM got it. Now could you explain how the videos get messed up? When talking to people, the videos seem to play okay at first. After a few times, however, they start jumping eratically. This can be tested by starting a new game and talking to Gramps (the old …

Oregon Trail 3rd Edition will run, but I haven't found a way around the CD check. For now, I've made ISOs of my CDs (version 1.3) and mounted them through PowerISO, switching images as requested by the game. The game uses 2 special fonts, which are in CD 1's FONTS directory. Just open them to …

The attached archive contains the necessary registry and updated files needed to run various games in the Blaster series on modern Windows. This is because the original installers are 16-bit and won't run on modern Windows. This way lets you bypass the installers entirely. The readme files will tell …

Re: Getting Oregon Trail II to work in Windows 11

This isn't just a Windows 11 fix, this should work across all OS, Windows XP (probably 2000 too?)-11. True, the issue started with Windows XP. I just used Windows 11 because it was the newest version of Windows, and the first to be 64-bit only. So I felt that was the right benchmark for classic …

@CDRayan I think I got it. Download this .rar, extract and execute the .bat file. Probably that will fix everything. Note: Since this should fix river-cross videos, are there any other problems. Where in the U.S.A. is Carmen Sandiego is more difficult, I will need more time to find what's the issue …

There is a 32-bit version of the QuickTime installer on the CD, QT32INST.EXE. Try that one. Just make sure to set compatibility to Windows 98. Also, I found some source header files in DATA/QTW/INCLUDE. Wonder if they can help in making an XP fix for QuickTime 2.1... Ok I was able to get the first …
