I saw a MS-6905 v2.3 on eBay last week. I put in a max bid for 50 quid. Easy question for me to answer, given that I bought an Orpheus and am 100% satisfied. I'd buy a newly manufactured version and I'd pay for the peace of mind that it isn't worn out or about to wear out.

I can't get mine to work with X-Wing Collector's Edition nor TIE Fighter Collector's Edition. You have any luck with those? I wonder if they are expecting a cheap single axis hooked up to the gameport and can't deal with this thing?

The era you are targeting (1998-2001) is Geforce era. Games that came out in those years supported D3D or OGL, even if they also had a Glide renderer. I don't think. High-frequency Coppermine also consumes a lot of energy. And probably more than the Tualatin cores? IIRC copper mine is 1.6 - 1.8v while Tualatins are 1.45 - 1.5v so Tualatins should be easier on the VRM, though this may be offset a bit due to Tualatin generally running faster clocks …

Those socket 462 coolers go on hard, from what I remember. When I built my AthlonXP system in 2002, I still remember asking my dad to come in and help me because it took so much pressure to get it clipped.

I wish I did this last year. I ordered a part that was "like new" that was the most broken thing I've EVER gotten on eBay and I just ate the $100 loss. In hindsight, letting them get away with it just encourages more.

I'm eyeballing a standoff right now. I have it next to a #6-32 machine screw and they look the same. 3.5mm sounds pretty much spot on for a 6-32 screw. Additionally, that was a pretty common size for screws in computers when I was younger. Take a look and let me know if that's the right size.

🤣. I actually can't fix my shutdown issue no matter what I try. It runs scandisk every single time no matter what. That's literally the only thing I wish I could fix. I think it just really hates a SSD on a startech adapter.
