Re: Help - Voodoo 2 SLI performance

My thinking on the Software T&L is that it can hurt performance because it's one more thing that the CPU needs to do. i.e. "software render vs. hardware render" type of thing. With a Coppermine there is some sort of optimization, or at least it looks that way as in 3DMark they have "using Intel …

Re: Help - Voodoo 2 SLI performance

I just tried with Unreal Tournament. Is it possible that 3Dmark2000 is not disabling v-sync or something like that? The thing is in UT I get 60 fps on the first 1-on-1 death match when I set the config to 60Hz, and 72-75fps when I move the slider to 75Hz.

Help - Voodoo 2 SLI performance

Hello Vogons! In short, I'm not seeing a great performance improvement on 3DMark2000 comparing a single Voodoo2 versus two Voodoo2 in SLI. My system is a VIA C3 Nehemiah 1.2GHz, 392MB RAM, Geforce3 as primary display. The Voodoo2 are a matched pair of Creative CT6670 with 12MB each. With this CPU …

Re: Clonezilla - Motivation and quick tutorial

Just whatever capacity is used for both the backup and restore operations. The preferred way to create those disk images is 'partclone', it will only use 'dd' as the last resort if it doesn't understand the filesystem that is on that drive. The same Clonezilla CD you burn to create an image / backup of your disk drive(s) can be used to restore such backup. I just did that by the way, I restored the image you see on the last 'screenshot' to a different drive. So, I now have all my DOS games exactly the same in both the K6 machine and …

Clonezilla - Motivation and quick tutorial

Hello Vogons, During my free time over the past few months, I've been building my own DOS retro games collection. Basically, installing all games I love, making sure they work and so on. As you can imagine, it takes time! Of course I'm not done, I'm planning to do the same for Windows 95/98 games, …

Re: SoftMPU project needs your help! (game & sound card testing)

in SoftMPU
I received recently my PCMIDI ISA card and I cannot be happier :) It's an MPU card that supports both intelligent and UART mode. Legend of Hoboken works as expected with it as you can hear in the attached mp3 rough capture. The PCMIDI is configured by jumpers on IRQ 2 and address 330H. Here is my …
