Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

2. Desolder the purple GY-PCM5102 board from the TinyLlama. 3. If the pins on the 3-pin header on the TinyLlama that was connected to the DAC were cut, you need to desolder that as well and replace it with a fresh 3-pin header. 4. Solder the DAC back on the adapter board. Could you just solder …

Re: ITX-Llama

Yep, the CS4237B has lots of audio inputs, I can add an external line-in. Maybe a combined jack (TRRS), to save space - we'll see when I get to the proper layout phase. Edit: duh, no a TRRS would only provide mono input, that wouldn't do. Need a separate input jack. You can always use a double jack …

Re: ITX-Llama

I like the spec. What I would like to see is 2x PCI cards. If we are looking for DOS / Windows 95/98 PC, it would be good to have a PCI card plus Voodoo 1/2 device. You can still buy PCI Voodoo 3, but an integrated 2D/3D card is not compatible with many older games. I would like to see Audio In, so …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Do you mean that under WinXP the SD disk works with higher speed as expected and without temporal system freezing? I can talk about my experience. I tried to Install Windows 98 SE on my TinyLlama, and the system froze after installing storage drives. You need to disable the device to make Windows …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Windows 98 should detect PCI devices automatically, you don't normally have to manually install the PCI Bus. I'm curious if the PCI IDE not working is the same problem that the WeeCee has. So this is a well-known problem with SeaBios. It happens too, when using virtualized Windows 98 with SeaBios. …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

I know that Windows 98 is not supported, but I would like to share a few quick notes from yesterday's Windows 98 SE installation: - Installator has no problem with any part of the installation. I did install it from a separate partition using 64GB MicroSD - After installation, you must update the …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

I briefly look at the firmware code and the spec from the signaling of two USB game controllers I own. And looks like not a trivial job. So, for now, I ordered RPI PICO and will add two USB ports and map joy input to the USB HID keyboard, as the USB HID joypad library is supported on PICO out of box …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

@Duffman The one on amazon is based on Asmedia, so I bought one from eBay. @Eivind is there somewhere in the wiki a pinout for mt32 LCD? Unfortunately, I have no multimeter now, so I wonder if my soldering was terrible or if I'm doing something wrong, as I can't get anything on display. Right now, …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Got it. S3 works ok, but I need more PCI cards to test. Could you point me to the exact card? I can't find any mini PCI-E to PCI on eBay. @sndlbn From my testing I find the ASM1083 to be hit and miss on whether it'll work properly or not. Like with a sound card I tried with it, it showed up in …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

It's based on ASMEDIA ASM1083. It was pretty cheap. Are they any better to consider? For clarification, I mentioned that the board has two PCI slots, so I had s3 and voodoo 2 simultaneously. Aha, yeah that makes more sense! :) Don't remember if I asked you this already or if you said - but which …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

For clarification, I mentioned that the board has two PCI slots, so I had s3 and voodoo 2 simultaneously. Additionally, I tried to boot the card with Voodoo 2, but no luck. There is no display. I could be some problem with PCI enumeration. I would like to do one more test with something like Voodoo …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

To add some additional info. I tried to use an S3 Virge card with 4MB of RAM on top of PCI-E to double the PCI slot card. Same issue and behavior here. Quake and Duke hang on resolution equal to and above 640x480. I also measure the speed on Quake demo1, and it's the equal speed of Vortex. So CPU or …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Purchased one of the AST1300 miniPCIe cards to try out or use as a spare. It shows on the system as: AST1300/2300 VGA True Color Graphics and Video Accelerator VBIOS Version 0.93.08 DRAM Size: 64MB It works good and shows 50FPS (1484 realtics) in doom benchmark. And 32FPS in Quake benchmark. And …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

It would be great to have it. However, I see two main problems, availability of 5:4 displays. If you don't want to start from scratch and don't care about the display, you can adopt raspberry pi ready-to-go solutions. The problem could be the tinyllama form factor and presumably heating if you go …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

About 2A Psu, for my tiny llama, was not enough. In the end, I used 20W PSU. PW is the first button from the left, the second it’s reset, and two others are mt32 buttons. My package arrived slightly damaged, but it looks like my tinyllama2 is unharmed. 20230302_192434.jpg PSU wise, would a 5V 2A PSU …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

This will be a gamechanger, as you can run many other synthesizers on the top of tinyllama. It would also be great to have the ability to easily change IRQ from BIOS, as some of the software requires to have it in a specific range. Only the original waveboards need the 12v. All of the newly created …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

I was able to make it work, maybe because I have ver 2 of the board. I put the configuration in the wiki. https://github.com/sandlbn/tinyllama2/wiki/USB-CD-ROM Files that I used are located here. https://github.com/sandlbn/tinyllama2/tree/main/USB_CDROM Wanted to try something new today, a usb cdrom …
