Re: Welcome back Katmai!

I agree with the others and absolutely wouldn't replace the GF3. I use a GF4 MX460 with my Pentium 3 1GHZ, I have also used a Voodoo 3 and a GF2 GTS in the same machine, never found the need for a FX card. I already have the ASUS V9570 cleaned up and ready. I got this one as a result of my …

Re: Welcome back Katmai!

Thank you @Ozzuneoj for all the input. Well, I did place an order for the PSU, so I will just stick with that... on the positive side, it is a fully modular unit, so less clutter and more airflow are gained. As far as the processor goes, since the slot 1 standard has quite some room for upgrade past …

Only issue with the Audigy 2 is it will install WDM drivers by default. Setup does have a utility to switch to vxd but Joseph_Joestar made this guide which avoids any of the bloat. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=71449 Thank you! So, are the drivers the same for Audigy 2 & Audigy 2 ZS, …

Stalled project report: Well, as eager as I am to move forward, I have been forced to wait before things can move... The case has been handed for a repaint to a neighboring car paint shop, but being a (very) low priority paint job, I have to wait... I also have two PCI adapters (a PCI to USB2 and a …

Years ago I bought an ancient, used Enermax 465W with 44 amps on 5v to power old Athlons with excess. You can still easily find them. :D Well, at least around the USA. PIII CPUs are so much lower power that almost anything of quality build is adequate. 20a should be plenty. 20-22 amps are quite …

Re: Welcome back Katmai!

Nice points here, thank you! I will be posting more on the components as I move forward, that's for sure... I will be using 4 drives tbh. A CD recorder, a DVD writer, a Zip drive and a floppy drive. Of course not all of them will be working at the same time, but I would like to have them available. …
