You need a multimeter to measure the chipset internal resistance.

Remove everything except the cpu, connect a buzzer/speaker to the speaker headers, you should hear missing ram beeps. also does the heatsink above the chipset get extremely hot?

I think this A8N and my other one are busted. Stripped them both completely down and tried two different PSU's, that are known to be working in other builds. The fan of the PSU quickly turns on, but immediately stops. I think I'll have to look for another board for my Athlon 3500+ If you have a …

I checked my A8n SLI and it posts fine with modern psu and without the cmos battery, I even set the jumpers to the wrong position and it still post. also looking at the schematics for this model, psu -5v doesn't go anywhere other than a 0.1uf cap. Filename A8N.jpg File size 117.44 KiB Views 1311 …

Make sure both cmos clear and chasiss intrusion jumers are at the correct position.

Did you replace all of the caps in vrm section? I had similar issue with higher frequency cpus duo to bad caps on cpu vcore.

when board is connected to psu and standby 3.3v rail is present, you should have 1.4v on one leg of crystal and 0.7v on the other leg. also disconnect the board from psu and put your multi meter in diode mode, with black probe on the ground you shouldn't have any voltage drop on the crystal legs and …

Those CPUs have locked multiplier, changing the jumpers doesn't do anything.

Yeah it's leaking, just replace both of with decent schottky diode like the one in the schematic (Rb751).

Did you check the resistor arrays marked as RP1-RP10, there's a chance some of them are open.

I found this corroded Gigabyte board inside a rusted case, Before.jpg after vinegar and hot water treatment, it posted on the first try, After.jpg ItsAlive.jpg now I need to put a new thermistor inside the cpu socket, replace the busted usb connector and its fuse then it should be good to go.
