You can cut the silver heat shrink on the old cap with a hobby knife and put it on the new cap with the same size.

I bought a Gigabyte 8i875 ultra and three 8i865pe775-g-rh Rev4.9 motherboards, they were pretty cheap since advertised as not working. Someone has yanked the heatsink with a screwdriver, the NB chipset's pcb is damaged, same goes for the solder balls under the damaged area.

If there's a cpu in the socket, 5.8 ohms is the cpu internal resistance. you should remove the cpu and measure again.

I made a mistake, this is a DDR1 board, so 2.7v is correct for the memory rail. 1.7v on the other rail is fine too. sorry I ran out of ideas.

This board has 2 switching buck converter , the one near the pci-e generates 1.5v and the one under the ram slots near the atx connector generates 1.8v, you need to measure the resistance between the output inductor and ground and see which rail is shorted. there is a chance that the low side mosfet …

R22 and R23 are those 2 big 330 ohm resistors, the marking for the inductor is L23 printed right next to RN10. you are missing 5 ferrite beads in total, L10-L13 and L23. also RN5 is damaged and should be replaced. RKM19 is 2n7002 in sot-23 package.

I would check those 3 black capacitors close to the inductor for the memory rail with an ESR meter. I would also check back of the board for any scratches on the traces between the northbridge and ram slots. also corrupted bios can cause this issue.

Since board has a creative audio chip, the PAL chip must be a bus arbiter, it shares the bus between one of the PCI/ISA slots and the audio chip. so without the PAL chip, audio and one of the PCI/ISA slots won't work.
