Re: Megarace 2 Vesa problems

Hm that reminds me of the graphics problem I have with Jack Orlando. http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=11183 BTW: The 24-bit version of Grand Theft Auto also produces such a messed up graphics output. :pppt: EDIT: I just tried the current CVS version and these graphic issues are gone in both …

Jack Orlando

There's a graphic problem with Jack Orlando. I have attached a screenshot which shows the setup program. GAMEMENU.EXE produces similar output. I noticed the same problem already some time ago with the 16-bit vesa patch. However in-game movies (like the intro) work correctly. AFAIK Jack Orlando uses …

Re: Alt-Tabbing bug

I noticed another ALT-TAB issue. When I run DOSBox in fullscreen, switch to another app (via ALT-TAB) and then return to DOSBox I cannot run DB in windowed mode anymore. I can still see both windows in the taskbar, but the DB main window is "hidden". However I can switch back to fullscreen w/0 …

Re: any hints for speeding it up?

also about core_normal,i was thinking maybe transfering that big switch case into a jump lookup table might give me some speed?for example to lconvert all those cases into functions and look their address from a table.... do you think it give me any speeds? C/C++ compiler compile case expressions …

Re: Linux IPX server

in DOSBox General
DOSBox tunnels IPX through TCP/IP. This means you just need a TCP/IP connection. Start DOSBox on the server and run IPXNET STARTSERVER. Then connect all DOSBox machines to that server by typing IPXNET CONNECT

Re: Help with DOSBOX installation needed

in DOSBox General
Happily, I have downloaded the Win32 DOSBOX.exe. I have tried to install it but it will not work. It gives an error. The error is titled 16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem. The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:0f81 IP:0119 OP: 65 63 74 20 61. I wonder why you download DOSBox if you run the …

Re: Blood

That is exactly what I mentioned in my first post in this thread. I have certain programs/games that also produce RTE 200 on my PC (Halloween Harry, Duke3D installation program) but I never have this error when I run things in DOSBox. That's why I'm a bit confused why he gets this error...

Re: Blood

Hm for me everything seems to work fine when I run it within DOSBox. It seems you try to run it without DOSBox. If I do so I also get the RTE 200. You have to download DB and then run dosbox.exe and there you type the mount command to mount the directory containing the CP installation exe.

Re: Blood

Hm really odd since everything you've done seems to be correct. I assume you typed mount i i:\ -t cdrom like this mount i i:\ -t cdrom in DOSBox otherwise you certainly got an error like ILLEGAL COMMAND: -t. If you didn't you should try it this way again. May you attach the installer exe here so I …

Re: Dark Forces runs much too slow

The timesynch seems to work best with resource demanding games like BLOOD or Shadow Warrior. I only noticed problems with "non-demanding" games like Wolfenstein 3D. The problem is that the timesynch code increases the cylces until 9x% CPU usage is reached even if it is not necessary for the program/ …

Re: Blood

As I said run the installer within DOSBox. Mount the dir with the installation exe in dosbox using the mount command and run it. You may also want to increase the cycles (CTRL-F12) to speed up the installation process.

Re: Blood

Also, do you know if DOSBox will run "Blood"'s expansion pack "Cryptic Passage"? Yes it does (at least the ver that comes with ONE UNIT WHOLE BLOOD) I bought "Cryptic Passage" a few years ago and never been able to play it as I get the message "Runtime error 200 at 04CE:0091" when I try to install …

Re: Dark Forces runs much too slow

BTW, Gulikoza, your timesync patch is awesome! I love having it balance cycles automatically for me Happy It causes serious problems with X-Wing CD though (both normal and dynamic core). The game runs slowmo although cycles say 20,000 or more. The cycles chosen by the timesynch code are too much. …
