That CPU came supplied in a system that had a fan drawing air over it. It used the Case fan and the PSU fan for its air flow, it is passive in that it doesnt have an integrated fan on it but it can not dissipate the heat of a 550 without air flow.

The AUX connector is optional in most system setups. If you have many power hungry PCI cards and or a lot of demand on the 3.3 and 5v rails from within the board itself then you might need it. I use one. Not the A model, mine is a U2 You cant use the ARO-1130A/HP in that slot it has to be the ARO-1130U2 controller card. It will not work with any of the other Adaptec ARO-1130 cards. When it works it boots up into a SCSI Select utility that looks very much like the AAA-131U2 BIOS does.

Rare and expensive. Its the sort of thing you find once or twice a year on ebay if youre lucky, and I would expect a price of £150+ (U$175+) Ive seen them on ebay a few times over the past few years with a £200 BiN price and decided not to.

I think you mean 6 foot wide rather than the 6 inches wide. There are a lot of rack options out there both new and used, it all comes down to what you want to put into it. You seem to be wanting a rack mount and ATX cases. Ive no intention of reading through an old thread about 3U cases.
