After some additional insight I've discovered that there is an update for IOS.VXD for Windows 95 that make it works with 4 floppies.

Is it on the latest BIOS? Also what drive model is it? It's great that you know it's working on another computer - I was going to say that the LS120 part might be damaged but you've ruled that out. They're pretty fragile so more than one of my LS120 drives can't read LS120 disks anymore but is fine …

It's quite impossible. You should take away BIOS chip and reflash it using programmer.

I would say that the problem lays in PSU. What's more - never ever turn the switching power supply on without load. The modern units are well protected, but the old ones can be easily broken in that way. This is AT I guess so you can provide load on +12v rail using car light bulb with 55W rating. + …

It show's the DFE-530TX in the device manager, but it says there's a problem with the driver. Yield sign etc. Anyhow I moved the card to a different Win98 box, and used the downloaded driver. I don't get the source of the problem. Just buy some low esr caps with correct capacity and voltage. 1500uF/6,3V caps are so ridiculously cheep that using some used but higher capacity ones is pure madness 😀

Coincidentally I bought the same card some weeks ago :) With box, but I think it's only a reseller. The box says 'SIL-5300' by the company 'Silicon'. The booklet says 'CI-2000 SIF'. SIF apparently stands for 'SCSI, IDE, Floppy', CI-2000 matches your serial number. I even have the disk with driver …

The question is what are we assuming as short. 10 ohms will beep on most short detectors but it's only 500mA on 5V 😀 Wdc2010 IC supply current is 220mA
