Re: 5.25 floppy

Drivers for floppy drives are built into all versions of Windows, you don't need to download any drivers, so this is not the problem. However floppy drives cannot be auto-detected, they are not "plug and play". You have to set the floppy type in the BIOS setup. If there is no twist in the cable, and …

Re: 5.25 floppy

Another possibility is to check if YOUR 5.25" FLOPPY DRIVE ITSELF has some little "jumpers". If there are two little pins called "DS1" with a jumper on it, remove the jumper and put it on the "DS0" pins instead. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER JUMPERS! Then connect ONLY the 5.25" drive using your existing …

Re: 5.25 floppy

I don't have that connector. I only have a Connector that got one plug for a 3.5 floppy, one plug for the 5.25 floppy and one plug for the motherboard. Is the 5.25" connector on the other side of the twist compared to the 3.5" connector? If it is: Buy another cable! The cable that you have won't …

Re: 5.25 floppy

Also check for the twist. See this image for example, and only ever use the "A" Connectors with a modern motherboard: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/floppyst … ppyStepper4.jpg

Re: 5.25 floppy

Don't connect both drives at the same time! Connect only one at a time! Remove all plugs from your built in 3.5" drive while you're connecting the 5.25. Also make sure that you don't plug in any plug in reverse, check on which end of the connector your motherboard and your drive have the "pin 1" …

Re: When I set the full screen resolution to 1600x900 (My laptop resolution) in the config file, full screen is window s

Did you pay for DOSBox? If not, tone done your conceited aggression, dude, the developers don't owe you a fucking thing. Ever heard of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism? Or of being friendly? Doesn't seem so. Read the descriptions in the # comment lines inside the config file itself. They give you a list of …

Re: Joystick support

Copy code to clipboard 1 dosbox -resetmapper In DOSBox for Windows there is also a menu option for it (at least there is in DOSBox 0.74). Don't know about the Mac version though.

Re: 5.25 floppy

I hope these floppies are not copy protected, otherwise what you plan to do will probably fail. If your main computer is a Desktop system as opposed to a Laptop, and you are comfortable with a screwdriver, you don't even need to buy a whole old computer, just a naked 5.25 drive for PC will do fine. …

Re: More accurate MUNT (MT32 emulation) patch

Another thing... I need some sample musics of MegaMan X playing in real MT-32. (menu and level 1 music) Here you go. Recorded via DOSBox and a MIDIMATE-II USB-to-MIDI interface from a real first-generation MT-32. The level1 music has a few seconds of the title music in front, but I was too lazy to …

Re: Ultima VIII

IIRC, some of the Ultima installers used relatively uncommon commands in their batch files, such as JOIN and SUBST. Maybe the Ultima Collection installer suffers from this too. DOSBox doesn't emulate all of the commands a fully installed real DOS accepts at the COMMAND.COM prompt or in a batch (.BAT …

Re: device=RS232c5.sys

I can only show you myself as an example that there is what I believe to be a responsible and informed way of using DOSBox for more than gaming. And I don't think YOU are to be held responsible when some joker bets the factory on DOSBox, or any other single piece of computer hardware or software for …

Re: device=RS232c5.sys

All these things are written in a if-something-needs-it-add-it fashion, which means parts are dummy implementations, speed oriented hacks or plain workarounds that may have arbitrary effects on non-gaming applications. So if you use it for anything else than casual gaming you're stupid, …

Re: device=RS232c5.sys

DOSBox its target was and is games. I didn't deny this, nor would I want you or anybody else to change that. But the fact remains that DOS games already require you to emulate most of the capabilities of a typical DOS machine, which means your code is already quite well suited to running DOS …

Re: device=RS232c5.sys

Which would be pretty stupid because there's already bochs, a bunch of virtualizers and other things out there if you want to go "business oriented" (yeah BUSINESS!!!). DOSBox has some very nice features that last time I checked (admittedly a while ago) bochs lacked, such as a built-in OS, built-in …
